Boxing is a female sport

The end of the twentieth century is full of events of different categories, both good and bad. The first is the news that pleased a large percentage of people. The international sports organization has recognized: boxing is a female kind of martial arts, on a par with the male. Not everything turned out right away, but gradually the battles, started for a start on a semi-regular basis, were officially included in the program list of the Olympic Games.

History of occurrence

For the first time, scientists have encountered the mention of boxing athletes in documents dating back to the early 18th century. Eyewitnesses of the time admitted that fights were particularly violent. Two hundred years passed before the fights between the boxers gained recognition and began to be conducted relatively regularly, but only towards the end of the last century, boxing, the female kind of martial arts, began to win the hearts of ladies.

The first official tournament

The first major boxing competitions took place in the late 80s of the 20th century. After six years from this event, this kind of single combat began to be considered an official sport, after which the federation of women's boxing in Russia was formed.

In the late 90-ies of the 20 century. In Athens, held the first large-scale tournament on boxing among women. From each participating country a team was required, the composition of which should not exceed 5 athletes. Very opportunely in Ryazan was a men's tournament, in which the selection of boxers took place.

Only six girls dared to enter the ring, and then the coaches of the Russian national team faced an obstacle, because it was not serious to form a team of these athletes. The coaches on female kickboxing came to the rescue and assured their colleagues that in this form of combat there are worthy boxers who can represent Russia at the Athenian tournament. No money was allocated for the organization of training activities, so everyone was extremely skeptical of this event, besides, the composition of the team looked unreliable, but three Russian athletes won the tournament.

Popularity

Spring 1996 pleased fans of boxing between women the first duel among athletes, held before the meeting of two celebrities: F. Bruno and M. Tyson. The spectators were surprised by the spectacle they saw, however, correspondents noted that the spectators of boxing, female, and not male, caused increased sympathy. The days that passed from the first fight had a positive effect on the popularity of women's boxing, the growing interest in this sport contributed to its inclusion in the program list of the Olympic Games. It happened in 2009, but after three years, female athletes attending women's boxing sections got a chance to compete for the title of Olympic champion.

List of weight categories in which athletes compete:

  • Up to 51 kg is super-light.
  • From 52 kg and up to 60 kg - light.
  • From 61 kg to 75 kg is the average.

Every new day brings new fans to the box of this sport . Unlike men's boxing, where every fight is considered exciting, but cruel, the female kind of martial arts is more peaceful. Doctors and sports judges often stop fighting ahead of time. Women's boxing for beginners is now available in almost every city, so anyone can join the section.

Rules of women's boxing

Fights among women for a long time passed on a semi-regular basis, and the public perceived them as an unusual, exotic entertainment. But after the recognition of women's boxing, an official form of sport arose a set of rules that determine the course of combat.

The first thing you should pay attention to is clothes for boxing (women's). Any athlete who wants to attend boxing trainings for women should wear a tank top, on top of which protectors are secured, protecting the chest from heavy blows. Body body must be protected, since it is the main target for strikes, along with the head, for protection of which a special helmet is designed - without it no athlete will be released into the ring.

The length of the fight starts from six and ends with ten rounds. The victory of one athlete over another is clean, but most of the time judges are announcing technical knockouts. If this does not happen, the winner is chosen, counting the number of effective strikes.

Boxing is a female sport - or fitness?

It is widely believed that boxing among women gained popularity thanks to the efforts of Hollywood stars, who once noticed that training for this kind of martial arts brings the best result, rather than fitness. Exercises performed by athletes during training in the sections are very similar to those used in fitness classes, but if you dig deeper, you can understand that the boxing trainers are borrowing only the technique. The main task of athletes is to work out the technique of this kind of boxing.

Female boxing, quickly gaining popularity both among athletes and among fans, has as many similarities as the differences with the male combat. However, fights between women are of low cruelty, which helped them to win the hearts of the public.

An impressive list of works was done by members of the women's boxing federation in order to make it accessible to the public, and even if the society has not completely got rid of the prejudices concerning women involved in this sport, the efforts of the coaches and organizers have not been wasted. Today, a woman will rarely meet misunderstandings from other people, and even less often someone dares to insult her when she learns of addiction to boxing.
