Andrei Moguchy: family, biography, parents, photo

Andrei Moguchy is a well-known figure in Russian culture, a director. Since 2013, he heads the Bolshoi Drama Theater named after Tovstonogov (BDT). In the creative asset of the director there are about forty performances. He has theatrical and state awards, including "The Golden Mask" and the Medal of the Order "For Services to the Fatherland".

Biography of A. Mighty

Andrei Moguchy, whose biography began from the date of November 23, 1961, was born in Leningrad.

After school he entered the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrument Engineering and Radar Systems, which he graduated in 1984. However, the fate of the engineer-designer of aviation instruments was not to the liking of a young man, and he entered the Leningrad Institute of Culture named after Krupskaya at the Department of Directing and Acting.

In 1989, after graduating from the Institute of Culture, Moguchy founded an independent group "Formal Theater", whose work was started after the first performances appeared. In 2004, the talented director cooperated with the Alexandrinsky Theater, where he staged such productions as "Gardeners", "Petersburg", "Izotov", "Ivans". Since the spring of 2013, Mighty headed the Tovstonogov Grand Drama Theater.

"Formal Theater" Mighty in the 90s

By its nature, the "Formal Theater" was positioned by the director as an independent theatrical collective. As a result, Andrei Moguchy received the status of the main theatrical avant-garde of the northern capital.

An extraordinary understanding of the text, a game with the available space, always bold and unexpected for the viewer, distinguished the collective. Radicality in the text played a cruel joke with the "Formal Theater": the band was not recognized in Russia and did not have a roof over their heads, the performances were staged in the open air. The ability to choose and optimally use the surrounding space of the scene caused admiration and surprise of the audience (most often - Western Europe).

In the 90s, performances of "Two Sisters", "Petersburg", "Bald Singer" were performed on the stages of "Formal Theater", and the whole Europe saw the play Orlando Furioso, staged by Ludovico Ariosto. Andrei Moguchy, whose photo became a recognizable Western audience, became a person who could no longer be seen. The most significant work was the "School for Fools", staged by the Mighty, together with German and Polish representatives of theatrical art in 1998 in Potsdam.

Creativity of Andrei the Mighty in the 2000s

In the 2000s, Andrei Moguchy, the director who by that time the whole of Europe already knew, finds recognition in Russia: "Formal Theater" got a room at his disposal, his performances became fashionable in his homeland. In 2001, at the theater "Baltic House" Moguchy together with Eugene Grishkovets put "A play that does not exist." In 2003, as part of the Mariinsky Theater project, the avant-garde master put Musorgsky on Boris's Godunov's Cathedral Square in the Kremlin. The same performance was shown in 2008 in the Warsaw theater.

In these years on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater there are performances of the Mighty: Petersburg, Ivana (the performance was based on the works of N. Gogol), Izotov, Happiness.

In the theater "The Shelter of the Comedian" this period was marked by the productions "Pro Turandot", "Not Hamlet". With the arrival of the Tovstonogov Grand Drama Theater, Andrei Moguchy puts Alice on the fairy tale "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland" by Carroll, "What to Do" based on the novel by N. Chernyshevsky and "Drunk" based on the play by Vyrypaev.

Mighty about the theater

According to Andrei Anatolyevich, the theater assumes the participation in its work of many professions, and all of them should be aimed at one thing - the creation of a performance. This means that all workers of the theater are one team, and all professions are interpenetrating. Mighty believes that the modern theater lacks effective managers. The current manager should deal not only with the distribution of tickets, but also promotion of performances, as well as working with the viewer. The director sees similar problems in the professionalism of sound engineers, light artists, and assistants. The quality of training of these specialists is affected.

According to Andrei Moguchy, the Russian theater is behind the modern trends in art, and this must be eliminated, catching up with other countries, as fashion trends in Russia today ended in Europe back in the 90s. But do not follow the European art.

If we talk about the BDT, then the artistic avant-gardist thinks that we should return the fashion to Tovstonogov again, in his name. To this end, today the theater team is focused on the work of the BDT since 1956 and later, because during this period Tovstonogov put the best performances. According to the Mighty, Tovstonogov's methods are still relevant today, and they need to be followed, in particular, in the issues of staging the classics in the form of a modern work.

About the performances of Mighty

The repertoire of the Andrei Moguchy Theater was always built not only on the coincidence of a qualitative modern production with the strategy of the theater, but also on attracting the viewer, that is, on combining quality and quantity. An example of such a production was the play "Drunken", which became the main theatrical event of the last year.

The name of the play should not be taken literally - it's just a metaphor. All the action takes place during the night, and during this time the viewer begins to understand that every person always has a chance to change his life for the better. Until recently, the performances were not of a classical nature in their pure form, and this year Moguchy intends to move to the classic "Thunderstorm", "Dead Souls".

Speaking of "Happiness", Andrei Moguchy, whose family has three sons and a daughter, believes that only children are able to find answers to the questions posed by the performance. And it is for children that "Happiness" is addressed. Therefore, according to Andrei Moguchy, parents who came to the play themselves and brought their children with them, and are the driving theatrical force. This factor is necessarily taken into account by the master of the avant-garde. It should be noted that almost all of his performances contain elements of postmodernism: performances, installations, etc.

Public activity of A. A. Moguchy

Andrei Moguchy almost immediately after receiving the diploma of the end of the Institute of Culture participates in the theater festivals "Baltic House", "Baltskundal-94", "Theatrical sensations", etc.

He is seen at international theatrical festivals held in Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Denmark, Estonia. This person is celebrated four times with the highest theater prize of St. Petersburg "Golden Sofit" for his performances: "School for Fools", "Pro Turandot", "Izotov" and "Alisa". He receives the national theater prize of the All-Russian theatrical festival "Golden Mask" three times. As he grows up, he begins to give master classes.

A little bit about personal

Childhood Mighty was in Cuba and Mongolia. To that parents of a profession (the father - the doctor-microbiologist, mother - the lawyer) promoted. His father worked in the UN during the Soviet Union. Mother after the birth of Andrew left her profession and later devoted her life to children.

The roots of the genealogical tree Mighty go to Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, but the parents were born in St. Petersburg.

The director is married and has four children. As Andrei Moguchy says, the family, its values are the main priority in his life. For him, this is the most important thing, and nothing can compare with the family.

Finally

Andrei Moguchy, undoubtedly, is a bright personality in theatrical art. It is peculiar to the experimental theater, where it is possible to "play" with the form of the play, add an expression and voice it with irrational music. His work contains different genres: there is drama, comedy, and circus. All together attracts and pleases the modern spectator.
