Actor Timothy Spall - biography, personal life, films

The popular British actor Timothy Spall was born on February 27, 1957 in the residential area of London Battersea. The family of the future celebrity was not rich. My father worked in the postal service, and my mother earned a hairdresser's trade. Parents worked hard to raise their children and give them a good education, because Timothy was the third of four sons of the family.

Timothy Spall in his youth and youth

From an early age, he began to get involved in theater. His first roles with enthusiasm played in school plays. Instructor of acting skills noticed the talent of the young man and advised not to give up his childhood passion, but to try his hand on the professional stage. Timothy Spall listened to the words of the teacher, and having successfully auditioned, he began to work in the youth theater. After receiving some experience, the actor enters the oldest Royal Theater School in London (RADA.).

For the excellent performance of the leading roles in the performances of Shakespeare's Othello and Macbeth, he was awarded the Bancroft gold medal as the most promising actor. The management of the Royal Shakespeare Theater noted the skill of Spall and in 1979 he was invited to the troupe.

On the stage of the famous theater for two years, the young actor successfully plays in various performances (William Shakespeare's Windsor Mockers, Charles Dickens's Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, Francis Beaumont's Knight of the Burning Pestle). With work in the theater, Timothy tries his hand at the movies and on television.

Timothy Spall: movies

His debut work in the cinema was the film "Kvadofoniya", but the viewer was more remembered for his work in television series. The role of Barry Taylor in "Auf Wiedersen, Domestic" brought Spall the first widespread popularity. He was noticed by television and film producers and heads of leading television companies. Then began to receive proposals for shooting in popular films, TV projects and TV shows. Since 1986, Timothy Spall has played in such films as "Crusoe," "Secrets and Lies," "Shooting in the Past," "Screw-Turning," "Vanilla Sky," "Rock Star," "All or Nothing, "The Last Samurai", "Lemony Snicket: 33 misfortunes" and "King says!".

December 31, 1999, for his services to the British Crown, the actor receives the title of officer of the Order of the British Empire.

"Harry Potter"

World popularity brings films on the works of Joan Rowling. In the film adaptation of one of the books the role of the negative hero Peter Pettigrew was brilliantly performed by Timothy Spall. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is the first film where the spectator gets to know Pettigrew, nicknamed "Wormtail". Later there is a continuation of the painting "Harry Poter and the Goblet of Fire." There you can see Spotte's acting again.

"The Last Executioner"

After working in the films about the young wizard, the directors pay attention to the diversity of the actor, and in 2005 the film "The Last Executioner", where Timothy Spall plays the main role, is released. The executioner, Albert Pierpoint, is an ordinary person who continues the work of his ancestors without advertising him. Nothing human is alien to him. Therefore, in his spare time he and his friend perform at a local bar, but everything changes after the war.

Despite all the severity and drama of the situation, the protagonist in the performance of Spalla arouses the sympathy of the viewer.

"Enchanted"

In 2007, the actor manifests himself from a completely different angle and performs the main comedy role in the film "Enchanted." This is a modern fairy tale, about how a beautiful princess from a magical world falls into the real. But is not this an excuse to turn him into a fairy tale. The picture is very interesting and enjoyable for family viewing.

"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"

Then follows Beadle Bamford's lead role in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" about the barber who, because of the scheming of a judge, goes to prison and loses home and family. Having freed himself from prison, Sunni Todd decides to take revenge. This is an interesting picture in the horror genre with an excellent cast.

Picture of a teenager

In 2009, Julian Fellowes's movie "From Time to Time" was released on the world screens. A fantastic picture tells of the adventures of a teenager named Tolly, who, due to the military events of 1944, moves away from London to a country house to his grandmother. There he periodically communicates with Mr. Bogis (played by Spall), but it is still not what is at home. Here the young man discovers in himself the talent of moving through time and falls into the eighteenth century. Then the real adventures begin.

The film "From Time to Time" received excellent comments from critics. They note that the picture turned out to be really deep and a bit sad. The idea that the main human values, such as the family, is more important than any treasures, touched the hearts of the viewer.

"Access code" Sofia "

This is another interesting film featuring Timothy Spall. It was released in 2012. The detective plot of the film is famously twisted and does not let the spectator get bored. The protagonist of the picture "Access code" Sofia "witnesses a series of mysterious crimes and, the more he delves into what is happening, the greater the danger to him.

In 2014, Spall won the "Best Actor" nomination at the Cannes Film Festival for his role as an artist in the biographical film of Michael Lee "Mr. Turner".

Personal life

Timothy and his wife Shane have two daughters (Pascal and Mercedes) and Rafe's son. The boy went in the footsteps of his father and already began a successful acting career. The Spall family lives in Forest Hill, this is the southeast area of London. In 1996, the actor learned that he was seriously ill. He was found to have acute myeloblastic leukemia, but since then there has been a remission. Remembering those times when he had to fight the disease, Timothy says that he looked at life in a new way and learned to cherish every moment of it. So now he does not pursue fame and chooses only really interesting roles, and spends all free time from filming with his family. His wife all the time, when the actor underwent agonizing chemotherapy courses, was close. They fought together and dreamed that when the disease recedes, they will make a trip on their own boat along the waters of the Thames. Therefore, when the doctor reported on the long-awaited recovery, the couple purchased a boat with the name "Princess Matilda". It was named after the first granddaughter of the actor.

Now the couple do not part, Shane is always next to her husband. He is shooting a lot in the US, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Italy, and she travels with him. Having finished shooting, Timothy and his wife go on another trip on their boat. This fascination interested the leadership of the BBC channel, and a documentary about how the spouses traveled around the British Isles appeared on the screens. They called him "Timothy Spall: back to the sea."
