VAZ 2109 is one of the most repairable cars of domestic production. But this does not mean that its nodes and aggregates must be brought to a lamentable state. Although, even with careful operation, any part sooner or later will fail. And today we will look at how the clutch replacement is made (VAZ 2109-2199).

Instructions

So, first, we need to jack up the front of the car and remove the 2 wheels. Next, disconnect the clutch cable from the gearbox using two keys for 17 and disassemble it. The speedometer cable is extracted easily without any special tools from the gearbox. After this, it is necessary to unscrew the fixing bolts of the ball bearing to the fists. Here, we also need a key for 17. Next, loosen the rear attachment of the left lever (head on 24). Now, unscrew the bolts on the left extension bracket and rotate the part 90 degrees down.

Further we disconnect weight from a transmission. This is done with a key on 13. Next, unscrew the lower flywheel casing, the left mud flap and the left engine support. Here we need the keys to 8, 10 and two by 17 millimeters. After we unscrew from the body the rear engine support and the clutch of the drive for the gear changes. Before this, it is necessary to remove the gear unit. At this stage, our gearbox is almost ready for dismantling. It remains only to unscrew the last 3 bolts and one nut that connects the transmission to the engine. Now gently tilt the engine and remove the gearbox. The transmission remains hanging on the drives.

Using a head on 8, unscrew the clutch basket and immediately replace the clutch release bearing. Next, you must install a new disk, using the centering tool. That's all. Assemble the gearbox in the reverse order.

This is how the clutch changes itself. VAZ 2109 in its technical component practically does not differ from its fellow models 21099 and 2108. Therefore, this instruction can be used on all VAZs of the "ninth" and "eighth" families. The replacement of the clutch fork is no exception. VAZ 2109 is not the only car on which this method of repair can be used.

Method number 2

You can use another way of replacement. In principle, its algorithm does not differ from the above, but here there are some nuances. The main difference of this method lies in the fact that instead of the 2 upper fastening bolts of the gearbox, the mounting parts of the head of the block are alternately screwed. The thread on them is the same, but in size they are somewhat longer than the regular ones. After that, the gearbox is dismantled from the engine and hanging on these bolts, and the rear part of it is conveniently laid on the stretcher. After the replacement of the clutch, the VAZ 2109 still remains stationary, and at this time the gearbox moves to the bolts to the engine. Using this method, you can not even center the clutch. The fact is that the bolts from the head of the block will work as guides, and for centering it is enough to just press on them more forcefully, then change them to standard ones (that is, those that are shorter).

The advantages of this method of replacing the clutch are that there is not necessarily:

  • Remove the starter.
  • Drain oil from the transmission.
  • Unscrew the speedometer cable.
  • Pull out the hinges of equal angular velocities from the gearbox.

Replacement of the clutch cable (VAZ 2109-21099)

To begin with, note that this operation does not require special skills and knowledge, so it is better to try to change this part with your own hand. So, what needs to be done? First, unscrew all the adjusting nuts and carefully inspect the clutch, remembering the location of these parts. Then remove the lower end of the cable from the bracket. Be careful! This operation should be carried out with special care, as there is a risk of deformation of the tip. Then the leash is disconnected near the clutch release lever, and the stopper tube is removed from the pedal pin. After that, we disconnect the tip of the cable from the pedal and in the hole of the shield we remove the rubber cushion in such a way that the tip of the cable can be pulled out through it.

Replacement of a disk of coupling (VAZ 2109-21099)

This operation also does not require special tools, skills and knowledge. Replacing the clutch disc is as follows. First, the crankcase protection is removed from the machine and the oil is drained from the transmission. Then turn off the wheels and the hub nuts. In this case, the car is put on special supports. With the puller, the tip is released from the rack, then the brake element is removed. Then the ball bearings, the starter and the hinge of equal angular velocities are taken out. The latter can be extracted with a mount. Further from the car the clutch cable is disconnected and the cardan shaft is taken out. After the speedometer cable is also in the neutral (free) state, the reverse gear enable sensor is disconnected and the CV joints are extracted. Next, the lid closes the flywheel from below. Then the elements of fastening the box to the engine are loosened. Under the transmission are supported. After the bearing is replaced, the clutch basket is removed and a new disc is installed. This entire procedure is completed by centering. Assemble the elements in the reverse order.

So, we found out how the self-replacement clutch is made. VAZ 2109 is the car that, if desired, can be repaired even in the field. Therefore, it is not necessary at the first malfunction to drive it into the car service.
