History of creation

It began still forty years ago. The then chairman of the city executive committee, Nikolai Georgievich Yakhontov, took the initiative in creating the zoo, and financially contributed to this.

However, in the 90s a critical moment came - the animals grew smaller, and they began to starve. Many leaders have changed, and this has not led to anything good.

But when the director was Osipov Alexander Ivanovich, immediately began the construction of a hangar for hay, the strengthening of cells, the reconstruction of the roof over the "Winter Garden", and also the construction of a grain warehouse was launched. Further on, a summer gazebo for birds, a veterinary area, new aviaries and dwellings for animals were built on the territory.

Enormous efforts were made to form the collection, and as a result, the number of species increased three-fold, and the number of copies became more than nine. Not only the house, but the place of birth for animals, was the zoo. Lipetsk has become one of the few cities in which the aquatorarium first appeared. At the moment, there live boas and anacondas, skinks, bearded agamas and many other kinds of exotic animals.

Twelve years ago, Lipetsk Park became a member of the Euro-Asian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA). He also takes part in projects that are focused on the breeding and conservation of rare species of animals.

In 2005, the opening of a branch of the Lipetsk Zoo "Bird Paradise" was held. It was located in the cultural park of the city of Michurinsk. For visitors of the "Bird's Paradise" presented more than 35 different species of animals.

Here they live

Today in the aquarium of the zoo you can see the boa, anaconda, skinks, trionics, snake turtles and others. In more than ten aquariums there are fish of unusual sizes and different shades.
