A writer was born in the village of Atalanka on the Angara in 1937. Valentin Grigorevich Rasputin, whose biography is very interesting and full of events, often recalls the war years and hungry time, although he was still a child. Despite this, he calls his childhood happy: it was held in the village, he often fished with the children and went to the taiga for mushrooms and berries.

In 1959, Valentin graduated from the Irkutsk University, after which he began working as a journalist in the publications "Soviet Youth" and "Krasnoyarsk Komsomolets."

Already in 1961 his first work was published - "I forgot to ask Lyoshka ..." The plot of the story is as follows: in the fellings, the fallen pine touches the young Leszek, who is accompanied on foot by two friends to the hospital, in whose hands he dies. Already in the first story of the writer there are characteristic features of his work - nature as a character of the work, which reacts sensitively to what happened, and the hero's thoughts about justice and destiny. Then came a few early stories: "Rudolphio", "The Bear's Skin is Sold" and "Vasily and Vasilisa."

As the writer recalls, he was an apt pupil and loved to read. After finishing four classes of school in the village, he was recommended to continue his education. Rasputin Valentin Grigorievich, whose biography was partially reflected in one of his most popular stories - "Lessons of the French", in the boy, the main character, in many respects described himself. The plot of the story: a boy of eleven years is sent from the village to the city, where there is an eight-year school. He is gifted, and the whole village hopes that he will become an educated person. However, the time is post-war, hungry. The boy barely has enough money for a rare jar of milk. He begins to play for money, his teacher of French learns about it. Deciding to help her pupil, she plays with him for money at home, as the boy did not want to take them. According to this story, a feature film was shot.

In the collections of the works of the young writer "What to convey to the crow?" And "Age to live - a century of love" included stories telling about the life of people on Lake Baikal and nature.

In the late 1960s, a young Rasputin Valentin Grigorievich was admitted to the ranks of the USSR Writers' Union, his biography is replenished with new works: "Money for Mary", the story "The Last Term" and many others. The distinctive features of these and all subsequent creations of the author were the theme of a Siberian village, a love description of the life of the common people, traditions and moral conflicts.

About his grandparents Rasputin wrote in the story "Basil and Vasilisa." As the writer admitted, the image of his grandmother also lives in the old woman Anna in the work "The Last Duration", and in the old Daria from "Farewell to the Mother." Rasputin Valentin Grigorievich, whose biography began in the Russian countryside and has been closely associated with her all his life, admits that there are stories of the lives of his fellow villagers and his native village in almost all books.

In 1974, the novel "Live and Remember" was published, in which the writer reflects on how an ordinary villager Andrei Guskov could go on desertion and betrayal. Thanks to this work and the story "Fire" Rasputin twice becomes a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR.

In 2007, Rasputin Valentin Grigorievich was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland of the 3rd degree for many years of creativity and active participation in the development of Russian literature.
