Pushkin. "Queen of Spades": a summary

The work of Pushkin "The Queen of Spades" came from the pen of the great poet in 1833. The basis for it was a well-known in the light of the mysterious salon legend of the sudden and stunning card game of Princess Natalia Golitsyna. The story is integral, resembles a fascinating story and is read "from the first time."

With the usual story for the card company that is going to tell (the landowner Tomsky tells), Pushkin begins plotting the plot. "The Queen of Spades" by its content introduces us to the Hussar XVIII century. The grandmother of the narrator, Count Tomsky, Anna Fedotovna lost the count of Orleans to a penny in her young years. Having not received the money from her indignant husband, she learned from the famous occultist and alchemist Count Saint-Germain (who then asked for money) to learn the secret of the three cards. In this mysterious Frenchman was due to the fact that the Countess will only play one game. Anna Fedotovna Tomskaya then recouped and went to the Northern Palmyra. Never again did she sit down at the table. Only once did I disclose the secret to Mr. Chaplitsky, having previously secured from him a promise similar to mine. That word did not hold back, winning once, did not stop on time and then, after losing millions, died in poverty. Agree, dear readers, skillfully woven the intrigue of his story Pushkin. "The Queen of Spades" is a fascinating and dynamic work.

The story did not stay "hanging in the air." He was heard by a young German engineer, eaten by passion and ambition. He does not play, because his condition is modest, and he has no other income than salary. Suppressed by a strong will, the passion for the game makes him eagerly catch every nuance. The heard story of Count Tomsky shocked the young engineer, and the thirst for rapid enrichment seized him.

The way of life of the count's house is described in the next chapter by Pushkin. "The Queen of Spades" introduces us to the Countess of Tomsk, who lives closed in an estate that makes no sense observing the court etiquette of the 17th century, manically watching its decorations and appearance. Infinite her petty quibbles. In this manner, the landlord plagues and pulls out all those around her, especially the young girl Elizabeth. Hot and fervent Hermann fascinates Lizonka, writes her notes and seeks a secret meeting in the count's house. Acquaintance of young people is the topic of the third chapter. The pupil tells him in detail the plan of the rooms. But at the appointed time Hermann goes not to the girl, but to her mistress. He sees the mistress sitting in a sleepless window. The young man asks, and then demands from the Countess of Tomsk the disclosure of the coveted secret, but she stubbornly remains silent. When the engineer starts to threaten, pulling out the pistol, the landowner suffers a heart attack, and she dies.

The fourth chapter is psychological, moral. Hermann climbs up to the pupil, tells the one about the misfortune. Elizabeth is shocked by his lucre. However, neither the tears of the girl in love, nor her feelings do not touch the greedy young man.

In the fifth chapter Pushkin shows his talent as a mystic writer. At the funeral of Countess Hermann, a mocking look and a wink of the deceased are seen. The next night he was awakened by an unknown noise, then Anna Fedotovna's ghost swam into the room and announced to him a secret combination of cards - a three, seven, an ace. She ended her speech with Hermann's forgiveness and asked to play only once and stop on this and then marry Elizabeth. Such a culmination of the plot was created by Pushkin. "The Queen of Spades" enhances the dynamics of its line.

Soon there is an ideal situation for an enriching game. Rich players come to Moscow. On the first day, Hermann doubles his fortune, putting it all on the top three, but it does not stop there. Luck is favorable to him and on the second day - the seven also brings good luck, he becomes rich. However, the player's passion, greed, lead him powerfully to perdition. He decides on the third game, putting on the ace all his game-winning easy money - 200 000 rubles. The ace falls, but Hermann's triumph interrupts Chekalinsky's opponent's remark that his lady lost. The engineer understands - the incomprehensible happened: pulling out an ace from the deck, his fingers for some reason got a completely different map - the lady of the peak - a symbol of secret ill-will.

Desperate swindler is shocked, his mind is not coping with stress, and he is going crazy. It was in the sixth chapter, which contains both the fateful game itself and the payment for it, that Pushkin outlined the inevitable outcome of the plot. "The Queen of Spades" gives Hermann his due: his house is now the seventeenth ward of the Obukhov hospital for the insane. The consciousness of the former engineer from now on is permanently closed in a combination of three cards. The fate of Elizabeth's pupil is developing happily: marriage, prosperity and family happiness.

The story "Queen of Spades" made a furor. In the environment of the players even arose a fashion - to put on the cards mentioned by Pushkin. Contemporaries noted the masterful psychological image of the author of the image of the old countess, as well as her pupil. However, the most strikingly depicted "Byron's" character Hermann. The luck of the work is not accidental: the classicist, in whose veins the really hot blood flows, writes on a topic close to him, fart, good luck. At the same time, we see his fatalistic convictions, which say that all the same over life's fate vanishes with fate.
