Why Mubariz Ibrahimov is the national hero of Azerbaijan

Why Azerbaijan and Armenia are at war

The conflict between the two countries has a long historical roots, but the peak occurred in 1987-1988, and in 1991-1994, military control over Karabakh began. In 1994, a protocol on the ceasefire and truce between Azerbaijan on the one hand and Armenia with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was signed in Bishkek on the other. But there is no armistice in its direct meaning and to this day, as there are daily shelling on both sides and both countries are losing soldiers. Armenia refuses to return Azerbaijan its land and is legally considered an occupier, as the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was recognized by Azerbaijan by the UN Security Council and there are 4 resolutions demanding the immediate return of territories to their lawful country.

Who is Mubariz Ibrahimov?

Let's talk about this hero. A serviceman of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mubariz Ibrahimov, was born on 07.02.1988 in Aliabad (Bilasuvar district). He graduated from the village secondary school named after Malik Piriyev in Aliabad in 2005, and in 2006 he was called up by the military commissariat for military service in the Internal Troops as an arrowhead, and on November 20, 2007 he was dismissed as a subgroup commander. But on September 18, 2009, he was again accepted into military service at his own request. At the same time he started courses on training ensigns organized by the Educational and Educational Center of the Air Force of Azerbaijan. He served as deputy commander of a motorized rifle platoon of a motorized rifle battalion. Colleagues and students say about Mubariz Ibrahimov that he was a worthy and conscientious employee.

How the national hero of Azerbaijan died

On the night of June 18-19, 2010, Armenian troops attacked the border military zone controlled by Azerbaijan - Terter region, Chayli village. Azerbaijani troops repulsed the Armenians' attack, and as a result, both sides suffered losses - Armenians lost 4 soldiers, and Azerbaijanis - ensign Mubariz Ibrahimov. His body, after the end of the battle, remained in the territory controlled by the Armenians. Later, the body of the heroically deceased serviceman was photographed by Armenians, and the photo was posted on social networks. According to the Armenian side, the Azerbaijanis started the fight. The reason they call the meeting of heads of state in St. Petersburg, which ended in favor of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani side officially appealed to the Armenian with a request to return the body of the serviceman, and those in turn referred to the lack of a request. Later, on 03.08.2010, a certain user of the social network "Odnoklassniki" under a fictitious name Tehler Yan laid out the photographed body of Mubariz Ibrahimov on his page. Prior to this event, on 07.07.2010, the ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova, who asked Jakob Kellenberg, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, to assist in the return of the soldier's body, joined the decision to return the body to his homeland.

The photo that appeared in the network forced the ICRC's Baku office to contact the central office. Armenians also called the photo appeared in "Odnoklassniki" photo provocation of Azerbaijanis, but in October confirmed the fact of the body on its territory. In response to the refusal of Armenians to return the body of the ensign, the chairman of the Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade wrote a letter to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and the Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin II asked the Armenian president to return the body to the Azerbaijani side. Later, at a trilateral meeting of Presidents I. Aliyev, D. Medvedev and S. Sargsyan, it was decided to exchange bodies between the belligerents with the support of the OSCE Minsk Group and the ICRC. On 6 November, the body of Mubariz Ibrahimov was brought to Azerbaijan, and 7 - was buried in the Alley of Honor in the capital of Azerbaijan Baku.

  • The President of Azerbaijan signed 2 Decrees on awarding Mubariz Ibrahimov the title of National Hero and about assigning the name of the deceased ensign to one of the streets and schools.

  • Mubariz Mansimov, the president of the Palmali group of companies named one of his Armada-type vessels in honor of Mubariz Ibrahimov.

  • The German Postal Service issued a stamp dedicated to Mubar Ibrahimov. It depicts the flag of Azerbaijan and a photo of the National Hero and in English it is written "National Hero of Azerbaijan Mubariz Ibrahimov" and "The Republic of Azerbaijan".

  • Veterans of the Karabakh war organized a memorial procession of Mubariz Ibrahimov. It was attended by 150 people and 50 cars, which were decorated with flags and portraits of the deceased.
