Why does one have one more eye than another?

Nature in its development strives for perfection. The creative and destructive forces of the elements, interacting, create harmony. Look at any flower or leaf of a tree, and you will see that the absolute clarity of lines and symmetry is not inherent in natural objects. The absolute symmetry of the human body is also not exact.

This fact is proved very well by a well-known experiment with photography. If a person's photo portrait is cut along, and a mirror image of the left and right parts is made, we get two completely symmetrical and unlike (and often unsympathetic) faces. And a slight asymmetry: the bend of the eyebrow, the dimple on the cheek, the slight squint, on the contrary, makes our appearance attractive.

However, there are cases when one eye becomes more important due to a disease. If the eyelid is swollen, the mucous membrane becomes red, a burning sensation appears or purulent discharge is urgently needed by the doctor. Conjunctivitis may be caused by trauma, viral or bacterial infection, and each of these cases requires a different treatment strategy.

Sometimes one eye becomes bigger than the other without visible signs of inflammation. In such cases, the ophthalmologist may have difficulty with the diagnosis and will need additional advice from a neurologist.

Why is one eye bigger than another in a small child? If the ophthalmologist and neurologist have not found out the diseases of their profile when examining the baby, the child may need a consultation of an orthopedic surgeon, which will reveal a scoliotic disease. After all, in the body everything is interconnected: the curvature of the spine can lead to the incorrect development of muscles and ligaments, which results in torticollis. And this disease often leads to deformation of the facial muscles. To correct such defect the course of qualified massage will help.

If one eye is higher than the other, does not close completely, has become noticeably narrower and in addition to pupils of unequal magnitude - a consultation of a competent neurologist physician is clearly required. A combination of these features may indicate a violation of cerebral circulation, the development of vascular pathology. To confirm the diagnosis, the neuropathologist will prescribe an additional examination of the fundus and measurement of intraocular pressure, which is carried out by ophthalmologists.

If an adult who regularly suffers headaches, suddenly discovers that he has one eye more than another - this is a serious reason to see a doctor.

Bulbar syndrome, which is accompanied by speech disorders, partial paralysis of facial muscles and other symptoms, indicates a serious impairment of brain function (it can be polyneuritis, trunk tumor, trunk encephalitis, circulatory disorders in the medulla oblongata, fracture of the base of the skull). Remember that the treatment of neurological diseases should be performed by a doctor.

Sometimes the face on one side completely deforms: the eyelid descends, the cheek swells and falls, the corner of the mouth also looks down, the person experiences pain, which is described as "shooting" and wandering from the ear to the eye and gums. The described symptoms characterize the inflammation of the facial nerve, which can be caused by suppuration in the tooth or hypothermia. And in this case, the doctor must also prescribe the treatment.

You can never autocratically prescribe a heating procedure: if the pain is caused by a purulent process, the consequences of such self-treatment can be very dangerous for life.

It is also important to know that neurological diseases in the acute period always require qualified medication, and physiotherapy procedures in this period are absolutely contraindicated. Otherwise, deformation of the face caused by inflammation, can persist for life.
