Where are the members of the Gaza Strip now?

Already fifteen years have passed since the day when Yuri Klinskikh, the permanent leader and founder of a well-known musical group, left this world. But the members of the "Gaza Strip" group, their names and their work are not forgotten by grateful musicians. Many are interested in what people are currently engaged in that have to do with this significant musical and social phenomenon. But to answer these questions, it is necessary to turn to the very beginning of the project.

Some facts from the history of the rock band

It is generally accepted that all significant phenomena in the world of show business have metropolitan registration. But contrary to this popular opinion, the future members of the "Gaza Strip" group met in provincial Voronezh. In his industrial left-bank district, due to the abundance of smoking pipes called the joke "Gaza Strip". It was this name that was taken for his group, founded in December 1987 Yuri Klinskikh. To the general public, he became known under the creative pseudonym Yura Khoy. At first he performed with solo concerts, but gradually he was joined by other members of the band "Sector Gaza" - bass guitarist Semyon Titevsky, drummer Oleg Kryuchkov and guitarist Sergei Tupikin. This was the first composition of the popular team, formed by the end of 1989. In the future, it was updated several times.

Unexpected take-off

Both the leader and the members of the "Gaza Strip" group hoped for the success of their work. But, by their own admission, they did not expect to become famous outside their hometown. Nevertheless, this is exactly what happened. The band's music quickly gained popularity not only in Voronezh, but throughout the Soviet Union. And after his collapse, they listened with interest to the entire post-Soviet space. It was interesting and relevant if not for everyone, then for many. Among those who spoke and thought in Russian - "From Moscow to the very outskirts, from the southern mountains to the northern seas." But for many in the early nineties it was a surprise - "Gaza Strip", a group whose participants learned to play musical instruments in the process of performing on stage, suddenly found themselves on the first lines of charts and ratings.

Punk rock

The music of "Gaza Strip" was very characteristic for the beginning of the so-called "dashing nineties". It stood out even against the backdrop of the creation of numerous rock bands at the time. Music criticism defines this style as punk. It will not be an exaggeration to say that members of the Gaza Strip group were the pioneers of this direction in the post-Soviet space. The musicians reflected in their work the life of the social lower classes from the urban outskirts. Among other things, their music was accompanied by very brutal lyrics with an abundance of profanity. Often, it was characterized by black humor and an appeal to folklore imagery: from Russian folk tales to Hollywood vampire gothic.

Critics and fans

For a whole decade on the music scene of Russia there was not such a scandalous phenomenon as "Gaza Strip". Members of the group, whose photos often adorned the first pages of the yellow press, were constantly in the center of attention of the most diverse public. In many, especially among older people, the songs of "Gaza Strip" caused a sharp rejection. But a number of authoritative music critics found in the creative work of the group deep folk traditions, which go back to the traditional urban buffoonery culture and medieval fairy-tale buffoons. But it all ended suddenly. On July 4, 2000, the members of the "Gaza Strip" group were left without their leader Yura Khoy. He died in Voronezh during the filming of a video for his song. Doctors of an ambulance ascertained cardiac arrest on a background of a narcotic intoxication.

After the "Gaza Strip"

Despite the tragic departure from the life of Yuri Klinsky, the remaining members of the "Gaza Strip" group for a long time refused to recognize her story as complete. Numerous teams toured the country, including musicians of the last group - Vadim Glukhov, Igor Zhirnov, Igor Anikeev, as well as those who played in the Gaza Strip before them. In the names of the touring bands, the continuity to the musical phenomenon that generated them was emphasized in every possible way: Ex-Gaza, Gas Sector, SG. However, none of the followers of Yuri Klinskiy failed to repeat his musical and commercial success. The public always delicately feels the falsity and cool refers to the epigones exploiting other people's achievements. The death of Yuri Klinsky was not the last among the musicians of "Sethra Gaza". Not so long ago, guitarist Vadim Glukhov died under mysterious circumstances . He froze in the winter forest. In recent years, Glukhov acted as part of the chanson-group "Butyrka", who performed songs of prison and criminal subjects.
