What is the Red Book of Ukraine?

The Red Book of Ukraine is the main document, in which all materials about rare animals and plants are collected. In it you can see all the individuals on the verge of extinction. On the basis of the Red Book of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies develop practical and scientific measures that are aimed at restoring populations of flora and fauna.

We'll figure it out!

This edition includes those animals that live permanently or temporarily in natural conditions on the territory of the state. All living creatures recorded in the directory, which is called the Red Book of Ukraine, is under protection, and strict surveillance is underway.

Each country monitors the animals, birds, plants that are on their territory. Especially for those who began to reduce their numbers. Data that is clarified as research progresses are recorded in a special collection. Ukraine was no exception. And the first such collection appeared in 1980. It was called the Red Book of Ukraine. It included 151 plant species and 85 species of animals.

A lot of scientists worked on the book, they came from different countries and did a great job listing a large number of animals. This was done with the purpose of finding out what species are disappearing and which ones should be preserved so that they do not completely die out.

New volumes

In 1994, a volume was published and published under the title "Animal World", two years later the book "Vegetable World" was published. The results left much to be desired, because for several years the number of rare plants was 390 species, and the number of animals was increased by 297.

The third, last, collection was published in 2009. And, unfortunately, he already had a huge number of creatures that need protection. Looking at these numbers, we can say that at this rate, humanity will soon be without animals.

Every year the number of disappearing rare creatures increases with great speed. For example, the speckled ground squirrel used to meet on the territory of Ukraine very often. But due to the fact that its habitats were destroyed, and the rodents themselves were exterminated by various poisons and chemicals, the population of this species began to decrease sharply.

In 2000, the number of these rare creatures did not cross the border into 1000 individuals. They were rarely met by small colonies in the Lugansk and Kharkov regions.

Another endangered species, recorded not only in the Red Book of Ukraine, but also in the book of the Russian Federation, is a desman. Due to the negative impact of mankind on the planet's environment, there are only 35,000 representatives of this species. Their number in Ukraine is so small that they are found only in the Sumy region, the number - only three hundred individuals, and they continue to die out.

Animals

So, let's find out which names the Red Book of Ukraine contains. Animals:

  1. European mink. Its numbers are decreasing due to the fact that these animals are being hunted. On the territory of the state there are only 200 of them.
  2. Steppe fox, in another way is called a korsak. Because of its valuable fur hunters exterminate this species. In Ukraine, it is rare and only in the Lugansk region. The number of these animals is not more than 20.
  3. The lynx was common almost throughout the European part. The shooting of these animals led to the destruction of a large number of them. Today they live in Russia, Scandinavia and the Carpathians. A small number lives in Belarus, Poland, Central Asia and the Balkan Peninsula. In Ukraine there are only 400 of them.

There are such animals that completely disappeared from the territory of Ukraine. This is a monk seal. He was met in large numbers on the shores of the Crimea. Today they live only off the coast of Turkey and Bulgaria. Their total number does not exceed 1000 individuals.

Birds

In addition to animals that are recorded in the collection, there are also birds of the Red Book of Ukraine. Their number, too, leaves much to be desired. A few years ago, all kinds of birds were met quite often on the territory of the country, in its cities. Here is a short list: the yellow heron, the karavayka, the common spoonbill, the black stork, the alpine devil, the swinging reed. There are also birds that have been little studied, and they do not have categories and ratings. This is a red-headed kingpin and the smallest lark.

The birds of the order of woodpeckers are included here: green, three-toed and white-backed woodpeckers - and many more different groups divided into categories (rare, vulnerable, disappearing) and without them. These are animals and birds whose lists are simply so large that it is impossible to list all of them. But in nature there are still different vegetation, which is also destroyed specifically or accidentally. It does not matter, but the fact remains. And this makes us think about the importance of protected objects. Let's look at the category of grasses and trees.

The Red Book of Ukraine: plants

This edition includes such plants as black aspirations, rhodiola rosa, marsilia four-leaved, juniper Cossack, sword grass, griffle curly, diphasia-astrum flattened.

Let's also list some flowers of the Red Book of Ukraine. Here you can find snowdrops, they are also included in this book, alpine asters, white-branched cornflowers, narrow-leaved narcissus, shulen tulips, lily forest, saffron and many others.

Conclusion

Enumeration of the names of animals, birds and plants listed in the Red Book of Ukraine can be done endlessly. All the above names are not limited to this list. And he, to great sorrow, is increasing every year.
