What is histology and why is it studied?

Histology is the science of the structure of various tissues of the body. At the same time she studies not only healthy, but also pathological tissue samples. This science has a very high significance for modern medicine and pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately, not everyone knows today what histology is and why it needs to be studied.

The object of studying histology is the human body. Thanks to modern research methods, scientists in this field managed to make a real breakthrough. This science today allows us to identify the most dangerous diseases in the early stages of their development. As a result, it is possible to begin their treatment even when no other methods of investigation will allow to determine the presence of the disease. As far as pharmacology is concerned, histology can also be very helpful for scientists. The analysis of medicines is made taking into account their impact not only on certain pathological processes, but also on healthy tissues of the human body. It is necessary that the medication taken does not bring the patient more harm than good. Therefore, many experts related to medicine should know about histology.

There is much in common with this science and with others. It is worth noting that histology, cytology and embryology today go hand in hand. Cytology is a science that is designed to study the structure and vital activity of individual cells in the body. The connection between this discipline and histology can be traced to the naked eye, because without knowledge of the structure and laws of cell functioning it is extremely difficult to study tissues. As for embryology, the main task of this science is to study the process of human development in the intrauterine stage of his life. This is also a very important discipline, thanks to which it was possible to establish the patterns between various deviations in the structure of the embryo / fetus . Thanks to embryology, scientists today have already thoroughly studied the process of embryo formation and its development in the womb of the mother. The histology with this most interesting science is connected not less than with cytology, as any organism is formed in stages. First, the ovum and the sperm of the parents are united in one cage - a zygote. Then it gradually divides, and after a while the embryo already has 3 basic tissues - ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm. It is from these in the future that all the organs will be formed.

About what histology is, doctors-oncologists know very well. They most often have to send the tissues of their patients to a study, which allows to establish whether there is a malignant tumor in a person or not. In addition, experts on the treatment of various autoimmune diseases know what histology is.

To date, histology is one of the most important sciences. It helps doctors to identify various diseases, choose the most rational way of their treatment, and also make a prediction for a patient for the future, which allows him to give the right recommendations.
