What is citizenship? Is it patriotism?

In the life of every person there is a time when you have to deal with such concepts as patriotism and citizenship. By the way, this does not happen so often. The present state does not require momentary remembrance of the existence of a civic duty, does not wait for confirmation of devotion from its inhabitants. Nevertheless, one should clearly understand what citizenship is. This knowledge can come in handy all at once, hopefully not in a critical situation.

We open an explanatory dictionary

Smart books tell the curious reader about everything in the world. There is also an interpretation of our term. Citizenship is the quality of a person, expressed in its active interaction with the state. However, we are not talking about loyalty to the ranks or politicians. Rather, this term denotes the desire and ability of a person to conduct a dialogue with the authorities. If it is wider, here it is necessary to speak about understanding of that such state, comprehension of the place in it. But this is not enough. Citizenship is the antithesis of apoliticality, indifference to the country proper, and what is happening to it. The described quality itself has a profound meaning. It does not boil down to a showy position. Just take part in political life, vote or go to rallies a bit. It is necessary to worry for the destiny of the state and the people, to act for their good. And this is impossible without a full understanding of the situation, the formation of its own political position.

Citizen and citizenship

Imagine two citizens. They work together, often discuss public affairs. One scolds everyone, after listening to and reading the media, and the second one he opposes. But it does not just object, but reveals the essence of events, offering its own solutions. But this is not enough. Our second citizen comes forward with initiatives, writes to the executive body, goes to the reception to the deputy. Which of them has citizenship? After all, both demonstrate a completely unbiased position. Like the first one also worries about the affairs of the state. Nevertheless, his opinion is destructive. But the second has a clear active civic position. He is not just giggles during a break, but he is rooting for his country. Although he agrees with the criticism of the former. That's what citizenship is. Although its people may not be interested in the work of power structures. There are citizens who consider it their duty to work well, raise children or write pictures. The bottom line is that from this Homeland was useful.

Differences in the concepts of "patriotism" and "citizenship"

Many believe that these two terms have the same meaning. They really are, so to speak, close. However, they are not equivalent. Patriotism and citizenship are the qualities of a person, characterizing his attitude towards the Motherland. But a little differently. Perhaps, it will be easier to understand this nuance if we find out how the state differs from the motherland. It seems that these words are about the same thing. But in fact, between them a grandiose difference. Patriotism is a selfless love for one's Motherland, and citizenship is an active interaction with the state. At the same time, the latter need neither read nor agree with it. It is necessary to have an opinion and actively express it in the political space. In principle, the concepts are very close. Their differences lie in the heart, feelings and activity. In patriotism, there is more love, and in citizenship - activity.

About education

It is important for the state that all its citizens are active, working for its benefit. By and large, there are no other global tasks for this social mechanism. It exists to protect its citizens, to create conditions for a good, successful, happy life. And in order to fulfill this task, a healthy and active society is needed. On its creation it is necessary to work constantly. And it is necessary to educate citizenship from a small age. It is important for children to explain what the state is, how and for what purpose it is created. In addition, they must understand the role of a citizen in the life of the country. This is done from the kindergarten. Of course, science at this age is not yet available. However, even the kids understand how the president works, for example, who should order snow from the streets to be removed or the house painted. You need to start small. In fact, citizenship is not global. It is born from the ability to be useful in a small country. The more people will become the soul to support their country, the more successful it will be. And this will improve the lives of citizens. Everything is interconnected.
