Indian cars and all that they need to know about Russian motorists

Perhaps the most unpopular in Russia are Indian cars. However, many are aware of them. In particular - due to their incredibly low cost. In general, this topic is of some interest, so I would like to talk about it in more detail.

A bit of history

So, before I talk about Indian cars, I would like to touch on their history.

It all began in the 90's. It was then that Indian cars firmly entered the everyday life of the Indochina population. Machines of this production can not boast of a magnificent design, new technical developments, powerful motors and elegant design. But they are economical and cheap - and this is the most important thing for the people of India . But there is one company that is actively trying to promote its models in the world market. And it is known under the name TELCO.

Her most popular model is Tata. More precisely, this is a whole line of cars. The developers themselves assure that these are the machines that are bound to become people's models not only in India, but in the whole region.

Characteristics of the Tata line

Now it's worth to talk more about these Indian cars, since their manufacturer is trying to actively promote them. It consists of a line of sedans, station wagons and hatchbacks. Technical characteristics are not very impressive - one petrol engine and diesel. The volume of the one and the other is the same - 1.4 liters. In the same way, as well as capacity - only 85 "horses".

There are even cargo Indian cars. It's hard to imagine, but it's really a fact - Tata decided not to dwell on the "cars". Heavy trucks also went into production.

Of course, the world community does not think so optimistically as the Indians themselves. Here everything is simple - salt in price and quality. First, cars were brought to the UK. However, they were so unpopular there that the price was reduced to 20,000 pounds sterling on the model. But even after that, there was no special demand. Yes, even in Russia, no one is eager to acquire a new Indian car from Tata. Yes, before the appreciation, it cost 250 thousand rubles. This is the very model of Tata Nano. But many motorists said that they would rather buy a used car (for example, the Mercedes in the body of w201 or the Ford of the 90s) than this car. The reason for this is quality. Everyone knows that German manufacturers produced really good cars. And they still will serve as much as they have already left. But what is Tata - no one knows. It is possible that the new Indian car will crumble in two years.

Other manufacturers

Maruti is a fairly large manufacturer of Indian cars. And his cars are quite popular in the homeland. Probably because the Indian experts closely cooperate with the Japanese automotive organizations. By the way, the company itself was organized jointly with Suzuki Motors. It was in 1973 in New Delhi.

Mahindra is another manufacturer. By the way, the very first car-building company! It was founded by a politician in the past. He was known as John Mahindra. In general, these are two firms that are even more or less known to the rest of the world. Because the first was founded under the management of a well-known concern, and the second is the very first in the state.

The smallest car

So, above was mentioned in passing about the car Tata Nano. Now I would like to talk about it a little more. Despite the fact that the design, which distinguishes this cheap Indian car, was developed by several eminent ateliers, it did not turn out well. Saved on everything, on what only could.

There is no trunk lid, as the engine is installed in the rear of the car. The wheels are too small - on these you can only travel on really ideal roads. The body shape is strange - it is incompatible with these very wheels. The interior is generally minimal. Inside there is only a steering wheel, a handbrake, a transmission lever and seats that are difficult to call comfortable. By the way, the volume of the engine is 0.6 liters. Power - and at all 33 (!) Horsepower. Yes, this "power" was different first "Volkswagen Beetle", issued in the mid 60's.

By the way, the car spends about 5 liters per 100 km. With such a volume of motor should be 2.5-3 liters at least. So, in terms of consumption, specialists have lost a little.

Bajaj Qute: features

This is another popular representative of the Indian car industry. It is compact - this is the first. It costs 250 thousand rubles - this is the second. And the third, and the most interesting - Indian car Bajaj is classified, as the quad bike. And yes, it is planned to provide it on the Russian market.

Its engine is 1-cylinder, and the power is only 13.5 horsepower. It is difficult to imagine that on the Russian roads where BMWs are dissected, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen (and other popular cars in our country), whose engines produce several hundred hp, this Indian car will drive.

What else is worth knowing about the novelty?

What else can surprise this car? Indian Qute will not be able to please comfort - that's for sure. On the small central console, you can see the transmission lever, the steering wheel and the motorcycle speedometer are not yet very comfortable to look at. The wheels are small, hardly have adjustment, and the rear seats - it's a solid sofa, which is very hard to fit three. Two are still possible.

In general, the model is not exactly for Russian connoisseurs, who are used to good and high-quality cars. But anything happens - maybe someday this car-ATV will find its customers. Producers, by the way, have planned to supply 300 copies of these models to our market. In general, it remains to wait for the premiere and the start of sales, if, of course, this happens.
