What is a boost controller and how does it work?

Turbine engines have a lot of advantages over conventional engines . One of the advantages of these units lies in their power. To increase the productivity of the motor, it is enough simply to increase the boost pressure. And this is done using a device such as a boost controller. At the moment, there are many varieties of these devices, but this does not change their purpose. The boost controller has the following operating principle. This device with the help of a pneumatic valve, which is installed in the inlet hose, deceives native Westgate, which causes the turbine to rotate 1.5-2 times faster. And now more in detail about all this.

Characteristic

A boost controller is a special device that controls supercharging on a turbocharged engine. What is noteworthy, after establishing the correct values of the turbine turnover, the driver at any time can return everything as before. This part controls the safety valve on the intake manifold and briefly increases the level of the charge air. In fact, it clamps the valve and prevents it from releasing the remaining air from the manifold. Thanks to such processes, the boost controller significantly increases the torque of the motor, thereby making the car more powerful and dynamic.

Varieties

At the moment there are 2 types of instruments - a mechanical boost controller and an electronic one. The first species is practically not found in the modern market and is less popular than the second (although it costs 2-3 times cheaper). Electronic devices are the most modern and high-performance. They have a rather complex algorithm of action, which not only takes into account the engine speed and load on the motor, but also the driving style of each motorist. Due to this, the electric boost controller creates the maximum possible pressure in the system with the help of a turbocharger, thereby increasing the power of the machine.

Is it worth it to install?

Despite the fact that the boost controller allows to increase the engine power, its performance compared to the forced units is negligible. It turns out that the additional force is added to the motor only partially, while the load on its components reaches critical marks. Therefore, these tools are installed only by fans of various competitions. Usual car owner after buying an expensive device will also have to pay extra for engine development, since the stock motor can not withstand such loads.

Price

At the moment, the cost of the boost controller is very diverse. For example, a mechanical device CRP VS 32 costs 1 thousand 750 rubles. The electric boost controller Blitz costs about 12 thousand. There are also more luxurious devices, for example, EVC 6, whose cost is 42 thousand rubles. But why, then, buy this part and still spend money for revision, if for the same price you can make a full boring and boosting the motor? So it turns out that this spare part is almost irrelevant for Russian motorists.
