Despite the French name, the recipe for the Napoleon cake with condensed milk or custard was born in Russia. His story begins with a cake that appeared in the nineteenth century, a form reminiscent of the famous tricorn of the great commander. Time passed, and the dessert was transformed into a delicious cake. It is made of puff pastry and cream base, which can be very different - from whipped cream to butter with protein, nuts and sugar.

How to cook a cake "Napoleon"?

Puff cakes are the main component of the cake. Of course, preparing this dough on your own is not easy, it will take a lot of attention and effort. You can limit the finished cakes and do not waste time. But if you really learn how to prepare this delicacy, nobody will be indifferent to your culinary talents. Therefore, try to choose a recipe for yourself to taste and dare. For starters, you need to remember a few tips. For example, use butter instead of vegetable spreads or margarine in the dough. The fatter the product, the more delicious the dessert will be. To ensure that the dough is not sticky and is as thin as possible, sprinkle the surface with flour. The most delicious is a cake cooked a day ago and kept in the refrigerator.

Classic Napoleon cake at home

To make a dough, you need eight hundred grams of good flour, a packet of butter, one hundred grams of sour cream, one egg, half a glass of sugar, salt. For the cream you need a glass of sugar, a couple of eggs, twenty grams of flour, two hundred and fifty grams of fatty cream, two hundred and fifty grams of butter, packing vanilla sugar.

So, we are preparing a cake "Napoleon" at home. Let's start with the test. Pour half of the flour on the surface of the table, put a soft oil there and cut with a knife until the oil crumb is formed. Place in a bowl and knead the dough, adding all the remaining ingredients and gradually pouring in the flour. Knead need a long enough time until the dough will lose its stickiness. After that, cut it into ten pieces, roll the balls out of them and send it to the refrigerator.

It's time to take care of the cream. Pour the water into a saucepan, put it on a stove. Mix in a bowl of eggs with sugar, send to a water bath and stir gently until the water is heated strongly. Add the cream, vanilla and stir, wait until the sugar is completely dissolved, then pour in the flour. Try not to create clots in the cream. After boiling reduce the heat, soak the cream for a quarter of an hour and cool. When the mixture has cooled, beat with a mixer a soft oil and add the cream, mix everything until completely homogeneous. The custard is ready, it needs to be cleaned in the refrigerator. As you can see, everything from which the "Napoleon" cake is prepared, it is quite possible to cook at home. It remains only to bake the cakes and decorate the dessert. Roll out chilled pieces of dough in a thin layer, bake in the oven for ten minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees. When all the cakes are ready and cool down a bit, spread on the plate, alternately lubricating the custard. If one of them breaks, crush it for crumbs - so you can beautifully decorate the prepared dish. The cake "Napoleon" at home is ready. It remains only to let him soak in a cold place for at least a few hours.
