Wax-up with your own hands - solar or steam?

In this age of electricity and high technology, such an element of lighting as candles is not used so often. Nevertheless, in almost every apartment there are cinder, left over from a romantic dinner, or a lot of small candles. A distinctive feature of these products is that they quickly burn out the wick, and the wax remains largely untouched. Throw it is a pity. In addition, some families always keep a couple of candles at home in case of interruptions with electricity. How to deal with the old candles? Of these, with the help of improvised tools, you can make new ones. For this we need molds, wooden or plastic sticks, cotton threads, a heat source and a wax-up. With your own hands you can make a simple adaptation. As a form suitable for any container that can withstand a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius minimum - this is the melting point of the purified paraffin. The procedure for manufacturing a new candle is quite simple: a wick is made of cotton threads, which is lowered into a mold. Its upper end is wound on a stick located across the mold at the top. Wax from old products is melted in a water bath (the wax-up is made from two containers by one's own hands) and poured into a mold. There can also be added color pigments, glosses, flavors. After cooling, the candle is extracted.

Where else can a voskotopka be useful? Many Russian beekeepers make it by their hands. The melting point of beeswax is about 65 degrees Celsius, so this material is also distilled in a water bath, only using other improvised equipment. Usually take a bucket into which a funnel is inserted. The funnel tube is pulled out through the drilled hole. In a bucket you need to pour water to the level of the hole, put something like a sieve on the funnel, into which the wax is wrapped wrapped in gauze. The top is covered with a lid on which the load is placed. This is how the steam wax-up is made by oneself. Now it can be put on a heat source so that the water boils.

In the Middle Russia in summer and in southern regions, fundamentally other equipment is used for the processing of wax. It uses the energy of the sun, and many beekeepers do not like the steam or water wax-up. With their own hands, as they believe, in this case, money is thrown to the wind, because Electricity or gas for heating water is quite expensive for rural enterprises. Instead, the beekeepers collect the following construction: from a 2-3 cm thick stick, a box is used, one long side of which is higher than the other. At its bottom do trough, as well as a suitable size pallet of dry, narrow, well-dried planks. On top of the box is a lid, which is a frame of two glasses with a distance of 1.5 to 3.5 cm between them.

It turns out the so-called solar wax-up. With their hands, beekeepers perform any of its elements of the required size. The principle of operation is as follows: the pallet is installed in a box at an angle of 40 degrees. Wax is laid on it. After this, the drawer is tightly closed with a lid with glass and exposed in the sun. To ensure that the sun's rays hit the wax at an angle of about 90 degrees (the most effective option), under the bottom is placed a board about 6-7 cm high. The temperature inside the box reaches 75-90 degrees, which allows you to get a very high-quality purified wax.
