Warm and decorative gaiters with knitting needles: sketch and description

In the off-season and the cold season very interesting are such interesting accessories as leggings knitted with knitting needles. The diagrams and description of most models are fairly simple, so it's quite possible even for beginners in the knitting business.

Types of gaiters

Depending on the functions that these products are designed to perform, they can be:

• Tight or openwork.
• Long or very short.
• With a flat bottom edge or with a loop for the foot.

As a rule, warming the lower part of the legs is the main task, which is placed on knitted leggings with knitting needles. Schemes and description of dense or openwork patterns are equally suitable, since a cloth bound from a warm thread with a high wool content will in any case be warm.

However, there are models designed for decorative use. For example, long leggings made of cotton or linen. They are worn with closed shoes or short boots, when the air temperature is already significantly above zero. Naturally, you should use only openwork patterns to bind such leggings with knitting needles (schemes and description should be chosen with small openwork holes).

Long leggings for dancing

The most popular such model was among the skilled workers, whose children are engaged in dance groups. These accessories are very easy to knit: the ability to perform only the front and back loops will give you beautiful and functional leggings with knitting needles. Manufacture of leggings 42 cm long

To work, you need 150 grams of mixed yarn with a thickness of 250 m / 100 grams (30-50% wool, the rest - acrylic or cotton) and spokes №3-4. The density of knitting will be 22 loops per 10 cm.

On the even or circular knitting needles, type 68 loops. Knitting is performed as follows:

• Two face loops, two purl for each circular row.
• When working with straight knitting needles, the sequence for each face series is similar. In the purl series, all the loops are knitted according to the pattern.

So, a 2 x 2 rubber band should knit 7 cm of canvas, then you need to go to the face and do another 28 cm in this way.

Seven centimeters of gum complete knitting. At the last stage, all loops are loosely closed, the prepared knitted leggings are washed and kneaded with knitting needles. • Pyramid - tie three loops together so that the middle is outside.

• Pyramid left - the same element, but with a slope to the left.
• Triangle to the right - two loops along with the slope in the appropriate direction.
• The triangle to the left is the same element, but with the slope to the left.

Gaiters with a foot loop

This model is designed to prevent slipping of gaiters during the putting on of shoes. It should be noted that it is extremely convenient, however, its appearance may seem a bit rude.

The photo below shows long colored gaiters with knitting needles, the diagrams and description for their manufacture are almost the same as for the previous model.

The exception is the execution of the heel slot:

• At a height of 5 cm from the beginning of work, you should divide the number of loops in half and mark them with markers.
• The part of the row, which is intended for placing the hole, should be tied with a contrasting thread. The rest of the canvas is knitted along the pattern with the main thread.
• At the end of the work, the inserted colored thread is carefully pulled out, simultaneously carrying the loops to two spokes.
• The resulting loops are closed in any convenient way (with spokes or hooks).

Such gaiters also look very good in openwork.

Gaiters with knitting needles: sketches and description for beginners

The most fascinating is knitting of short gaiters, intended for use with shoes with a high bootleg. Most often these accessories are worn with rubber boots. Such leggings effectively warm the feet, not allowing moisture to penetrate the wide upper edge of the boots.

Short gaiters can be tied in just a few hours, which makes them also a great idea for a presentation.

The yarn here is exclusively woolen (or with a high content of warm natural fibers).

Knitting can be performed as follows:

• Type on spokes from 15 to 20 loops (depends on the thickness of the thread).
• Knit by design a strip equal to the circumference of the foot in the widest place.
• Sew the finished fabric with a knitted suture.

It is also possible to make gaiters in circular rows. In this case, the description of knitting long leggings should be shortened to the required number of rows (about 15 cm).
