early years

Vladimir Lubarov is an artist. His biography is not full of dizzying ups and downs. His biography begins with the classical "born, studied, graduated". And in general, in these events there is nothing supernatural, but it was in this classic way that the bright creative path of this original artist and an extraordinary person began.

Vladimir Lyubarov was born in Moscow in the penultimate military year. At age 11, he entered the art school at the Institute. Surikov. Already at this age he decided on his profession or, rather, his vocation. At school, the future graphic artist and painter studied the theory of art for six years, it was she who laid the academic foundations of his work. However, dry academism was originally alien to the artist. His art education Vladimir Lyubarov continued at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute, where one of his teachers was the famous Soviet graphic artist, theatrical artist and illustrator Andrei Goncharov.

Book Graphic and Illustrator

More than twenty years of his creative life, Vladimir Lyubarov gave illustrations of books and magazines. Classics of Russian literature and foreign authors, textbook and modern - for his career he designed about a hundred books. Among his works are illustrations for the novels of Jules Verne and the stories of Edgar Poe, Voltaire, Hoffmann, Nikolai Gogol and many other poets and prose writers.

The top of the career of Lyubarov-illustrator became the post of the main artist of the popular science magazine "Chemistry and Life". Unconventionality and boldness of ideas helped the artist to turn the dry edition into a real art territory. As a graphic, Vladimir Lubarov took and developed remarkable traditions of outstanding masters of book illustrations by S.Verhovsky, D.Lion, Yu.Vashchenko, Yu. Kuper.

From graphics to painting

In the early 1990s, Vladimir Lyubarov decided to leave the world of book illustration. His biography made a sharp turn. Unexpectedly for all, the artist leaves the capital in the Vladimir region. He devotes himself to easel graphics and painting.

Now remote and forgotten by the big world, the village of Peremilovo, where Lyubarov lives, is known far beyond Russia. His paintings, Vladimir Lyubarov - artist-painter devotes to neighbors, immortalizes in them an amazing world of rural life, missed through a special vision of the creator.

Pictures and pictures of Vladimir Lyubarov

The artist creates cycles of picturesque works, populating them with very ambiguous characters, funny and sad, painfully familiar and unexpected images. Paintings of Vladimir Lubarov, or? As the author himself calls them? "Pictures", represent an amazing interlacing of folklore motifs and acute social realism. It would seem that Uncle Vasya and the mermaid can get along on the same canvas as an unshaven tractor driver. In a world created by Lyubarov, anything is possible. Against the background of a gray and foggy rural landscape, suddenly unseen animals appear. It seems that the whole world gathered around the village couple on a date, and then a horrible cow from a fairy tale lurked in the corner, while on other canvases the promenade-fairy-tale birds walk , and from the evening haze the outlines of the teremes look out.

Stylistics and the influence of classics

In the style of the picturesque works of Vladimir Lyubarov, the influence of not only folklore, folk art, lubok pictures, but also classics of painting is easily read. The surrealism of the images resembles the aesthetics of the works of Magrit, the influence of the flying images of Marc Chagall is easily discernible in the Jewish theme, and some naivety of the images resembles the manner of Pirosmani. In some works, images of the crowd are close to the Breigel images, and portraits can be compared to the types of Bosch heroes.

Village of Peremilovo in pictures and pictures

Until 2014, from the pen, or rather, the painter's brush came out seven series of works. The first of them, which had a tremendous success and continues to this day - "The village of Perimilovo and the town of Shchipok." After it appeared others: "Buza in the village of Peremilovo", "Flood", "Jewish happiness", "Fizkult Privet!", "Eaters", "Amsterdam". Simple subjects, simple themes, but in each of them deep layers of philosophical overtones.

Vladimir Lubarov as an artist celebrates the celebration of life in every everyday trifle. His work is permeated with a slight irony and admiration for simple and even unattractive things, from the point of view of the layman. For small details, drawn with special loving care, there is much meaning. Slightly naive, playfully childish lubochnaya manner of image further exacerbates the subtlety of these wonderful moments. The magic of the world is transmitted through the simplest and thus unexpected things.

Angels and people

A touching little angel on the shoulder of a healthy man, burly peasant women in images of muses, lovers of couples in space filled with various household objects - residents of Lubaroff's paintings exist in their particular Universe, but closely intertwined with the real world.

The paintings of Vladimir Lyubarov are an organic symbiosis of sad and comical, fantasy and reality, mixed with grotesque and light irony. Each work as a small story, conveying a huge range of feelings and subtle moods.

Vladimir Lyubarov is a writer

In addition to book illustrations, easel graphics and painting, the talent of Vladimir Lyubarov manifested itself in the literary genre. In 2011 he published his first book "Stories. Pictures ", illustrated by the artist himself. Three years later the world saw his second book, "A Holiday Without an Excuse". Nevertheless, the artist does not plan to return to book illustration again, devoting his time and inspiration to painting and new projects related to it. The question is, will the world ever see his book schedule again, while it remains open. If he returns to the illustration, only his books - this answer is given to him today by Vladimir Lubarov himself.

The artist pays the photos of his works, descriptions of books and future projects for reference on his personal website.
