VAZ-2106: oil pressure sensor, replacement, diagnostics

On the classic series, as well as on the VAZ-2106, the oil pressure sensor has a more complex design than the G8 and later cars. And the thing is that the sensor produces a signal of different shapes, depending on the amount of pressure. This signal is subsequently converted and enters the indicator. And now you can see on it the exact value of the oil pressure. In later models this is not the case, a simple switch is used that closes the circuit at a system pressure below the minimum allowable value.

What is a pressure sensor?

On the model VAZ-2106, the oil pressure sensor monitors the condition of the lubrication system. Of course, he does not take any action to troubleshoot, but allows you to notify the driver that the engine has started to somehow work incorrectly. The advantage of the control system installed on the sixes, and indeed in the whole classics as a whole, is that the measurement is carried out according to two data.

First, the momentary value is fixed and displayed on the indicator. Secondly, when the pressure drops below the minimum threshold, the lamp ignites. True, the indicator is located below the eye level of the driver. It's good that a flash of orange can be caught. The VAZ-2106 instrument panel consists of several means for diagnosing the state of the engine, and all of them are located mainly to the left of the rudder.

From the tools you will need a key to 19. The element is located directly on the engine block, it's hard not to notice it - a big enough cylinder from which the wire goes. It is closer to the gearbox, from the driver's side. In addition to the key, you will not need any tools to perform a replacement.

First, disconnect the wire that is connected to the sensor. Only after this, you can unscrew the case using the key on 19, which was mentioned above. You twist the one that has become unusable, put a new one in its place, that's all the work that actually takes two minutes, or even less. But there is a small feature in the system, about which will be said a little below.

Lamp On Sensor

Look at the VAZ-2106 instrument panel, you will see an indicator with an arrow and a control lamp. It signals that the pressure in the lubrication system has dropped to a critical value. And this lamp works from a separate reader, which is located in close proximity to the pressure sensor. If this lamp is not lit, then the reader must be replaced.

To do this, you need two tools - a head for 21 and a carob key of the same size. First of all, of course, turn off all the wires that can interfere with the removal. Why do you need two keys? One you hold the metal adapter so that it does not rotate. And the second one turns off the case of the device. In the reverse order, mount a new one. This completes the work, the replacement of the oil pressure sensor was successful.

Late models of cars

It has already been said that the VAZ-2106 oil pressure sensor allows for more control. Beginning with the first "Samar", the VAZ sets several other designs that some groups of drivers can not satisfy. It is clear that a low-literate driver, seeing the image of a red oil can not even suspect something is amiss. And where is he to control the pressure in the system?

But most of the motorists are technically savvy, for this reason it is necessary to be aware of everything that happens to the motor. How to perform diagnostics

Hardly you want to get on an expensive overhaul of the engine. For this reason, it is necessary to monitor the operation of the motor, in particular, the value of the pressure in the lubrication system. If it is insufficient, the oil can not reach the most remote corners. For example, the lubrication of the camshaft and valves will not be sufficient. It is possible that the latter can clatter, as if screaming for help.

Performance testing is a guarantee that you will not have unpleasant surprises. For verification, you need an accurate pressure gauge with a scale of up to 10 atmosfer (this is more than enough). Take off the oil pressure sensor on the VAZ-2106, and instead turn on the pressure gauge. But there will be small subtleties, depending on what type of manometer was chosen - electric or switch. The second is simpler. Start the engine, the arrow should slightly deviate. Two atmospheres should be at 2000 rpm of the crankshaft. True, sometimes it happens too much. Regardless of the crankshaft speed, the pressure must not exceed seven atmospheres.
