Analysis "I enter the dark temples", Block: symbols, atmosphere, history of creation

The article presents a brief analysis of "I Enter the Dark Temples". Blok wrote this poem in the heyday of symbolism, being in love with and passionate about the philosophy of V. Solovyov. Thanks to this combination of thoughts and feelings of the poet, it is filled with bright and mysterious symbols, the atmosphere of love and expectation.

Briefly about the poet

Alexander Blok was one of the brightest representatives of the Silver Age. From many streams he chose symbolism and followed its foundations throughout his creative period. The poet is known in many countries thanks to the poem "Stranger", which is translated into many languages, as well as a poem that we will study in the article and do his analysis - "I Enter the Dark Temples".

Blok was born in a noble family, his mother and father were educated, talented people. He inherited from his parents a love of literature and art. True, everything has two sides. The dark side of the Blok's medal was a hereditary mental illness that was transmitted through generations.

The first publication of poetry was in 1903 in the Moscow magazine Merezhkovsky, and from that moment he conquered the hearts of readers with his light syllable, hiding not always available symbols and images.

Analysis: "I enter the dark temples" (Block)

The poem was created in 1902. According to the literary critics, this time was the period of the poet's lofty love for his future wife - Lyubov Mendeleeva (daughter of the same Mendeleyev who opened the table of chemical elements), and his enthusiasm for the concept of the philosopher Solovyov about the highest femininity and the divine essence of love for a woman. Two of these motifs merged into one and created a poem "I Enter the Dark Temples". The divine beginning of love and the divine feminine principle create an invisible image of the "Eternal Wife" of the poet. His feelings are bright, spiritual. His love is also a platonic, immaterial form. The beloved compares to the deity, it is invisible and inaccessible to the eye, but the author, calling her "Darling - you!", Says that she has known her for a long time, and her image is familiar and close, and this mystical appointment fascinates, surprises, attracts Attention and does not leave the reader indifferent.

The poem describes a wonderful expectation, a premonition of an imminent meeting with the "Beautiful Lady." The author's love inspires him, the dark cold walls of the temple are filled with the joy of waiting.

What is this temple? Recall that the author belonged to the Symbolists, hence, the concept here is not factual, but symbolic. Perhaps, the dark temple symbolizes the soul of the poet. Darkness is not darkness, but twilight waiting. The red lamp symbolizes love, the fire of which has only just caught fire, but already languishes in anticipation.

And the one he is waiting for? Who is she, "Majestic Eternal Wife"? Most likely, here, as in "Stranger", we are talking about the image of your favorite poet. He does not see it yet, but he already feels and waits. The word "used" says that this expectation is not new to him, he is used to waiting for her, the image in the heart shines like a lamp in a temple. "No sigh or speech is heard" to the poet, but he knows that his beloved is near, and soon she will be with him.

"I enter the dark temples." Emotional atmosphere of the poem

The atmosphere of poetry falls on the reader from the first lines. These are mysterious "dark temples", strictness, asceticism with an admixture of expectation, foreboding. "Shiver from the creaking of doors" produces tension, high notes of expectation contrast with darkness and shadows. Red lanterns give sharpness, it seems as if we are with the author and just like him, we are waiting for his marvelous Lady.

Quite difficult and ambiguous can be the analysis "I enter the dark temples." The symbolist block never reveals to us what temples are at issue, but its task is not to tell, but to give us a taste of his poetry. In this poem, his plan was a success. The sense of expectation merges with the mystical sense of the presence of the image of the beloved author beside him. It is invisible, not audible, but the poet knows that she will come to this dark temple, filled with shadows of doubt, and will easily scatter them.

Finally

Poets of the Silver Age created real diamonds of poetry. Passes for decades, and their poems are still as relevant and vivid. Alexander Blok also belongs to such poets. "I enter the dark temples" with its marvelous atmosphere of waiting, languishing and joy from the realization of the meeting, which, perhaps, will be only in a dream - an amazing poem about love and expectation, the spiritual beginning of feelings and the bright dream of the beloved.
