Variety of mocha coffee

Mocha coffee is one of the varieties of the popular Arabica variety grown on the Yemeni lands in the Moho province and named according to territorial affiliation. After the economic reconstruction of Sheikh Shaddi, the region became famous throughout Europe. Moho was called a "coffee province", and she Really corresponded to that: all free from human habitation areas were completely occupied by coffee plantations, arranged on the slopes of the mountains, descending towards the Red Sea.

Yemenis prepared coffee for consumption by dry method, that is, dried the grains in the sun. And only then the goods fell into the hands of visiting merchants - because the secrets of the growth and preparation of grains were kept in the strictest secrecy. No foreigner was allowed to visit coffee plantations. Also, the authorities strictly monitored that no grain of the drink should fall into the hands of strangers before processing. But one Muslim wanderer Baba Budan managed to take out of the country a few coffee beans Mokko. Coffee ceased to be the prerogative of Yemen. The name of Baba Budan "remained in the centuries" for the coffee magnates of India and Holland. These grains were transported by the pilgrim to Chikmagalhur (South India), where they gave rise to coffee plantings, production and exports of this country by Mocha coffee.

A few decades later, Dutch businessmen had already exported coffee beans from India and established their plantations on the islands of Sumatra and Java. Thanks to the advertising, transportation and marketing services of the East India Company, in a few years Holland was known as the world's leading supplier of Mokko coffee. Since then, the overall economic level in Yemen has fallen, but coffee is grown there, although it is valued worldwide for its exclusive qualities. The taste of this drink is very diverse and directly depends on the location of the plantation on which the plant grows. It happens: floral, mushroom, fruit, nut, cheese and caramel, but always with a velvet intonation of chocolate.

In addition to the designation of coffee, "Mokko " refers to one of the ways of making this drink, which can rightfully be called a hot cocktail.
