Vareniki with sauerkraut

Vareniki - a dish, indisputably, popular. It is prepared in every house with different frequency. Particularly pleasing is that they can be made with any filling, starting with cherries and ending with potatoes with liver. This dish came from Ukrainian cuisine, but, nevertheless, it gained popularity in many countries.

Vareniki are usually prepared from an unleavened dough, that is, without the use of yeast. They can be of completely different shapes: triangular, semi-circular and even rectangular. Cook them in salted water for five to seven minutes on a moderate fire. When dumplings come to the surface, it means that they are ready. Before serving, they are usually greased with butter. If you cook vareniki with cherries or other berries, then they need to be cooled before offering to the household.

Vareniki with cabbage sauerkraut - a dish atypical for the average family. Usually they are cooked with potatoes, berries or any other stuffing. But if you have not already tried vareniki with sauerkraut, you have lost a lot in life. They have an unusual taste, but they will definitely become your favorite dish. Moreover, sauerkraut has many positive properties, useful for the body. It is rich in vitamin C, folic acid and other substances. Its use entails an increase in immunity, helps to prevent the occurrence of peptic ulcer, helps strengthen the vessels and so on. Thus, it becomes clear that you must necessarily know the answer to the question, how to cook dumplings with cabbage sauerkraut.

Here is one of the recipes. You will need sauerkraut - a liter pot, one onion, sunflower oil, salt, water, flour and ground pepper. Start with the preparation of the filling. You need to squeeze cabbage properly to remove excess liquid from it. After that, cook it in boiling water for about five minutes, but no more. In the meantime, chop the onion finely and save it in a frying pan over a large fire until it gains a golden color. Then to the onions it is necessary to lay out the cabbage, expressed from the water. All this is fried until the liquid evaporates from the frying pan. In the process, you can add ground black pepper and salt cabbage with onions.

Now, do the test. It is done elementary. You just need to add two glasses of ice water and a teaspoon of salt in one kilogram of flour. All this is well kneaded and left in a cool place for half an hour. Next you need to form vareniki. Everyone knows how to do this. Just roll the dough thick "sausage", cut it into pieces and roll each in a circle. In the center put the filling and protect the edges. Prepare to simmer the water, add it, only after boiling it is possible to lay dumplings in a saucepan, they should be immediately prevented, otherwise they will stick to the bottom. After the dumplings come up, cook them for about another minute. Your delicious dish is ready. Serve vareniki with cabbage sauerkraut with sour cream or mayonnaise.

Very special and vareniki with sauerkraut and mushrooms. This dish is sure to pleasantly surprise you. You will need 800 grams of cabbage, two dried mushrooms, 100 grams of cream margarine, one onion, 100 grams of lard and salt with pepper. Mushrooms must be pre-soaked in cold water for about a couple of hours. Then boil them in the same liquid and cut into small pieces. Cabbage wring out, chop, stew with fat and a small amount of water, now and then pouring mushroom broth. Then the cabbage is mixed with mushrooms and onions, pepper and salt are added there. The dough can be made according to the previous recipe. Cook vareniki with cabbage sauerkraut as usual. Before serving, pour them over melted fat. Bon Appetit.
