Unfavorable climatic phenomena in Russia

It should be noted that adverse climatic phenomena are always at the center of increased attention. And in this, perhaps, there is nothing surprising, because all of us, sometimes even without realizing it, are under their influence. Although, of course, a lot depends on the place of residence of each particular person. For example, in the middle zone of our country there are seldom droughts and strong winds, but for the Far East floods and floods are typical.

Agree, although unfavorable climate events in Russia happen much less often than, say, in the United States or, for example, in the Balkan countries, our plans for the day can still be spoiled by downpours, heavy snowfalls or terrible heat. And this is only a few of all possible options.

This article is aimed at giving the reader as much information as possible about such an important topic as unfavorable climatic phenomena. In six sections all the necessary theoretical information will be submitted, and the global nature of the problem will be revealed on the basis of the most characteristic examples.

Natural conditions. general information

Under natural conditions it is customary to understand geological features, fragments of relief, landscape zonality and climate of a specific area. In principle, they are not involved in production directly, but nevertheless predetermine the organization of both life and economic activities of the population to a large extent.

Of course, they have the strongest influence on agriculture, because Its effectiveness and specialization directly depend on the water regime of the territory, its climate and the degree of fertility of soils.

The life of people also falls under the influence of natural conditions, i.e. Of course, of course, depends on them the need for this or that type of housing, diet and clothing of a person.

Taking into account all the above information, it can be concluded that these kinds of conditions mainly determine both the social and economic feasibility of the construction of various settlements, transport routes and industrial enterprises. In addition, it can be confidently asserted that adverse climatic phenomena cause the development of mineral resources.

Human dependence on climate

In general, the climatic conditions of our state, even with all their harshness, are not an insurmountable obstacle both for conducting successful economic activity and for living directly. It should be noted that a significant part of the population of Russia still lives in regions with a continental and temperate continental climate.

What is the severity of the climate? According to scientists, first of all it consists in strong frosts and winds, and also in long nights during the cold season.

By the way, we should not forget about the onset of a long polar night in the north and north-east of the state. Note that in this area the climate is considered quite severe, nevertheless people still continue to actively explore these regions.

To date, the government is doing everything possible to increase the population density in regions characterized by unfavorable climatic phenomena in the territory of Russia, which is why the labor here is paid much higher than the national average.

Climate of Russia

Russia is really a huge country, located in several zones at once, therefore its climate is rather heterogeneous, and it is unlikely to be told about it using only a few sentences.

For clarity, a special table was drawn up, "Unfavorable climatic phenomena," showing what exactly one should fear for a person who found himself in one corner of our vast homeland.

We have tried to touch every climatic belt of the state.

The name of the climatic zone

Unfavorable climatic phenomena in Russia

Where are found especially often

Moderate

Low temperature in winter, heavy precipitation in the form of rain and snow, drought, floods

Much of the country's territory

Arctic and subarctic

Abundant snowfalls, low temperatures

Islands belonging to the Arctic Ocean and continental areas located in the Far North

Subtropical

High temperatures, drought, dry winds, strong winds

The Black Sea coast of the Caucasus

Droughts and dry winds in Russia

These natural phenomena are not without reason classified as the most dangerous in our country. The thing is that, as a rule, they cause considerable damage to horticulture and horticulture, and this applies to both private farms and the size of the entire state.

In most cases, the drought occurs suddenly, and it is almost impossible to prepare for it in advance.

On the territory of Russia, it can occur at any time of the year, except, perhaps, in winter. The most damaging is the season without rain in the spring, immediately after the snow, hot summer or winter before the onset of the first frost.

A prolonged period without precipitation and low humidity is fraught with extreme drying of the soil, small lakes and even shallow rivers. Most often, drought, repeated two or even three years in a row, is causing huge damage to the region's agriculture.

Hail and heavy rains

If we talk about unfavorable climatic phenomena in Omsk, Moscow or, say, in Saratov, we can not fail to mention such purely summer as showers and hail.

By the way, according to meteorologists, the most destructive for the middle zone of Russia is hail, which falls during a thunderstorm from 12 to 17 hours. In general, the center of the non-chernozem zone refers to the band considered to be the most exposed to this type of precipitation. For example, in the Moscow region during the year, on average, the hail may drop from 2 to 4 times.

The size of hailstones is directly proportional to the amount of damage caused. As a rule, such an icy pea has no more than 3-5 mm in diameter, but larger specimens are also found up to 10 cm. The weight of an individual ice slice is of the order of several grams, but there are specimens and weights of up to 0.5 kg.

First of all, hail is very dangerous for fruit-berry plants: it knocks out blooming flowers, fresh young leaves and fruits, and sometimes even irreparably breaks the stems of raspberries, currants, blackberries and other shrubs.

As a rule, the most dangerous is hail, falling out during flowering plants. This can partially or completely destroy the crop. As a result, the trees in the gardens are completely bare - not only without fruits, but almost completely without foliage. Such a feeling that in an instant you are transferred from spring to late autumn, when the ground under your feet is almost completely covered with berries and fallen fruit.

By the way, it should be noted that hail damage to trees (both on trunks and on branches) is very difficult to heal. Such plants are subsequently easily damaged by various kinds of pests and diseases.

Projections for the future

There is a fairly persistent belief that if any adverse climatic phenomena and expect the Earth in the near future, it is a significant increase in the average annual air temperature and global warming.

Russian scientists decided to check this pattern on the basis of our country and came to an amazing conclusion. It turns out that there is a strange pattern: Russians are more likely to suffer from colds, blizzards, piercing winds and frosts than from exhausting heat. Apparently, the whole thing is in the northern location of the state.

For example, in 2013 there were 23 particularly frosty days, 37 frosts and 35 cases of the strongest snowstorms. But to all this, both the Russians themselves and all the necessary equipment were completely ready, so the collapse did not happen either in the social or in the transport spheres.

But there were only 12 hot days, and even then mainly in the southern part of the state. Strong precipitation plagued the Russians 95 times, dangerous storm winds - 75. It should be noted that this kind of trend has been observed for several years.

By the way, we note that strong snowstorms and long snowfalls are accompanied in most cases by higher temperatures than usual clear weather. But the wind, in turn, can enhance the feeling of cold. That's why a snowstorm can very well be perceived as a particularly cold phenomenon. As an example, Chukotka can be cited. Here, local residents consider the blizzard to be one of the most unpleasant manifestations of global climate change. The thing is that this kind of precipitation can last several days, or even weeks, almost completely depriving a person of the opportunity to move.
