The most famous and popular of its types are cross-stitch and smooth embroidery. Let's find out more about them.

Types of cross stitch

Embroidery with a cross is the simplest and most common method. It has several varieties.

Simple cross - embroidered from right to left, starting from the top and ending from the bottom diagonally. In this case, all stitches must be made in the same direction.

Extended cross - technology is the same as in a simple cross. Only here the stitch occupies more than one cell on the canvas.

Seam rice - on the whole surface of the canvas embroidered large crosses, each through four strings. Then stitches are sewn. They must pass through the four points of the big cross. So you get new crosses.

Straight cross - embroider horizontal and vertical stitches.

The "Slavic" cross is the same as the elongated cross, only with an inclination and crosses.

Types of embroidery

Smooth - this technique is embroidering tight stitches. It is two-sided and one-sided.

Double-sided surface - the embroidered pattern turns out the same both from the front and from the wrong side.

One-sided smoothness - the underside of cardinally different from the front side.

Embroidery with decorative smoothness is used mainly for embroidering flowers, leaves, etc. The petals are embroidered from the edge to the center, and the leaves are to the middle, as are veins.

When embroidered with the top, the front side is embroidered with dense stitches, and the wrong side is obtained in the form of dotted lines.

For embroidery, beads, ribbons, gold or silver threads can be used.

The picture, embroidered with beads, looks very beautiful. Beads convey all the bright colors and shades. Figures seem to come to life in their hands. For embroidery with beads use a thin fishing line, but you can embroider and ordinary thread. The main thing is that the beads are the same size, and the needle easily passes through the bead holes.

Embroidery in a crochet - for this technique only gold or silver threads are used. They can be replaced by lurex or threads based on plastics.

The very crochet is attached to the fabric using a thread in one of three possible ways. It can be fastened like beads, threading through small pieces of gimp. You can stretch the gimp and thread through it, and then attach it to the fabric in several places. Hard stitching should be stretched and sewed to the fabric with small stitches, but the thread through it is not necessary to pass through.

Embroidery with ribbons is the easiest technique in all types of embroidery. It does not require a particularly scrupulous performance and provides an opportunity to embody in the handicraft flight of your imagination.
