Box of newspaper tubes: types and ways of weaving

It would seem that such a newspaper? The next rubbish, littering mailboxes. We throw newspapers in a bucket, sometimes without even opening or reading them. And many do not realize that this is an invaluable resource for masters engaged in weaving. A box of newspaper tubes, woven with their own hands, will serve as an indispensable thing in the house, as well as the original decor of your interior. In this article, we will get acquainted with this kind of needlework, as weaving, and consider a master class on the creation of boxes of newspaper tubes.

Basics of weaving

Newspaper weaving is very popular today. The newspaper is cheap material, and often free. It is not difficult to weave from newspaper tubes, especially since they can be grown endlessly, connecting with each other. The main thing is to properly process the finished product, so that it is durable and has served for many years.

Materials for weaving

Material for weaving can be any printed publications: color and black and white newspapers, glossy magazines, old books, brochures, booklets, office paper. Dense sheets well hold corners at square or rectangular products.

In addition, the work uses glue, knife for cutting strips and knitting needles. It is advisable to wind the tubes with the number 2 needle - the larger the number, the larger the tube will be. The choice of size depends on the future of the product. Beginners studying the weaving of boxes from newspaper tubes, we recommend using a small spoke.

How to twist the tubules

For weaving boxes, caskets, baskets and other products, newspaper sheets are curling obliquely. To create flat objects, you can twist the piece parallel to its edge.

Before cutting strips, you need to take a newspaper and deploy it. Sheets are cut across for 4-6 stripes from 10 to 15 cm wide. The density of the tube depends on the width of the strip. The log sheet is cut along into two parts. In the future, while continuing to engage in weaving, you will understand the size of the tube you like, and choose your way of cutting newspapers. Out of the last strips, white tubes will appear at the expense of a light strip along the perimeter of the publication, from the middle of the newspaper - colored.

In order to properly weave a box of newspaper tubes, the needle should be placed on the corner of the paper line not in parallel, but obliquely, observing a turn of about 30 degrees. Folding the corner under the spoke, we begin to carefully twist the strip, holding the newspaper with your left hand. We twist the tube tightly, trying not to change its size. It is noticed that after the creation of the tube, one end is slightly wider than the other. Convenience is that when building it is convenient to place the thin end of the next tube in the wide - the previous one. If the parts are even, then in this case the end of the tube can be bent along and also inserted into the hole of the previous part.

The process of painting pipes with stain

A box of newspaper tubes will be more effective if they are first painted in natural colors, similar to the color of vines, wood or grass. For painting, you can use stain, color, green, hair dye, iodine or food color. Also need a container and rubber gloves. Some masters color the tubes vertically, someone horizontally - depending on what you have in the house. A tray can be a long tray of flower pots, which are mainly located on balconies. It can be a 5-6-liter bottle, which is put on the barrel and cut out the hole, creating the shape of the boat. Or any vertical container into which you can put the tubes for coloring. If you do not want to dirty the tray, cover it with plastic wrap, then proceed to painting.

Boxes of newspaper tubes, the photos of which are shown below, are painted with water stains. The right color can be achieved by diluting it with water. Put on rubber gloves, pour a little stain into the pan and place the tubes in it. Then gently scroll and lightly squeeze them, immersing completely in the liquid. Do not hold the parts for a long time, otherwise they will get wet. After painting, remove the products and place them on a prepared place for drying.

We paint tubes with paints

You can use acrylic paints to color the tubes. Acrylic is colorful and gives the product a glossy shade. To achieve a certain shade, acrylic paint is diluted with water until the desired consistency is obtained. Acrylic after application dries for at least half an hour.

Of the watercolors, silver or bronze will look very impressive.

The gouache used is also diluted with water to a semi-liquid state. Before painting, the main colors can be mixed, achieving a certain shade. Orange turns out when mixing red and yellow; Purple - red with blue; Pink - white with red. A brown shade will result when black colors are added to the basic colors. The addition of white will give a gentle shade.

Paint on tubes from newspapers can be applied with a broad brush or foam sponge.

How to strengthen the product

A finished box of newspaper tubes will be stronger if it is primed. The liquid penetrates deeply into the product, forming a strong film. The primer increases the durability of the material and strengthens it from the inside. Thanks to it, the subsequent layer of paint falls well on the surface, reducing its consumption.

To obtain a primer, mix the acrylic paint and PVA glue in a 1: 1 ratio. Priming the product should be several times with a break for drying each layer. If you used white acrylic, then after priming the box can be painted in any desired color. And you can add a little color to the color you want during the composition. Start priming followed by a wide brush, in hard-to-reach places - the tool is thinner. The primer will seal the product, and the acrylic paint over the typographical font.

Types of weaving

There are many ways in which a box of newspaper tubes and other products is played. Let's consider some of them.

- Simple weaving. At work, an odd number of braided tubes is used. The part, which the workpiece braids, alternates around the vertical tubes in front and behind, rising to the desired height. The tube is built up during operation.

- Layered weaving. With this method, two more details with a slope of 45 degrees are glued behind the back of each base tube, which braid the adjacent right tube in front, the next behind them.

- Rope weaving. This method involves weaving with two tubes. The first is glued at the bottom of one rack, the second - from the bottom of the next rack. The pipe to the left is laid for the third post, the second tube is also laid for the third from its stand. As a result, one is behind the counter, the other is in front of her.

The remaining methods are used by experienced masters.

Simple weaving of the box

Rectangular box of newspaper tubes is easy to beat. By the method given below, it can even be woven by a beginner. Cut out of the cardboard two small rectangles of the size you need and prepare a couple of hundred tubes from the newspapers. Twist the sticks to the cardboard at the same distance, starting from the corners. Cover the second piece of cardboard, glued with glue, giving the bottom a beautiful view. Each side of the future box will be braided separately. After fixing a new tube between the cartons, we begin to lay it by a simple weaving method. Gradually increase the tube, weaving to the desired height of the box. After weaving, we cut the newspaper thread and hide it between the rows. The ends of the main pillars are folded inward and also hid in the weaving. We repeat the procedure with the other sides.

After the sides of the box are woven, they need to be connected. To do this, we take new newspaper tubes and connect them on the sides, drawing a paper thread between the rows. A square box of newspaper tubes can be woven in a similar way.

Learning to weave boxes in a simple way, you can move on to more complex and original products, decorating your home and emphasizing its individuality.
