What is cold porcelain and how to cook it?

Cold porcelain is a mass that resembles plasticine or polymer clay. Ideal for all kinds of work. It dries quickly, after which it becomes very hard. It is absolutely harmless, therefore it is possible to entrust it without fear to children.

Cold porcelain can be bought or prepared at home. On sale usually there is a mass of only one color - white. To get different colors, dyes are added to it. You can also paint an already prepared figure with acrylic paints. Sometimes on sale it is possible to see cold porcelain of corporal color. It is usually used for modeling parts of the body.

If you decide to make products from cold porcelain, then, in addition to the mass itself, you will need: a set of special sticks, rollers, silicone molds (leaves, flowers), molds for flat figures, acrylic glue, toothpicks (for small flowers) , Wire for flowers, syringe with holes (or extruder), lacquer (shiny or matte).

In domestic conditions, cold porcelain can be prepared by two methods - on fire and in microwave oven. In this article we will tell you how to prepare mass for molding in the oven.

To do this, you need the following components: 2 small cups of corn flour, 2 small circles of PVA glue, 10 milliliters of lemon juice, 20 milliliters of Vaseline or glycerin, 1 milliliter of hand cream (preferably lean), a wooden spoon and a glass bowl.

Algorithm of preparation:

1. Mix all the ingredients (except the cream) in a glass bowl. Mix well into a homogeneous mass.

2. Place the bowl in the microwave for three minutes at maximum temperature. In this case, once a minute, mix the dough with a wooden spoon, so that all components undergo the same heat treatment. If necessary, you can hold the dough for 2-3 more minutes in the microwave oven, without forgetting to stir it.

After processing the dough in the oven, it must be well kneaded. To do this, 10 ml of hand cream spread evenly over a smooth surface. Heat the hot mass on the cream and start kneading it with your hands. Remember, the longer you do this, the easier it will be to work afterwards.

Then roll the mass into the roller and wrap it in a food film. Avoid prolonged exposure to cold porcelain in the air! Because of this, he can lose his qualities and wither!

How to paint cold porcelain? To obtain the required color, just add oil paint to the mass. So you can get both bright and pastel colors. Also allowed the use of food colors.

Advice: when making an artifact from cold porcelain in a silicone form, use a cream. This is necessary in order that the mass does not adhere to the silicone walls.

Before you start, you do not need to apply cream on your hands, because cold porcelain is not sticky.

From this material it is convenient to create realistic flowers and bouquets, various thin details, wall panels, small figures and statuettes. Unfortunately, ornaments made from cold porcelain are short-lived, as this material is "afraid" of water and high humidity. For this reason, after the figure is frozen, it must be dyed and varnished.
