Tomatoes: late blight and its treatment
Everyone knows how much effort it takes to grow tomatoes. Biofluorosis, as one of the most formidable diseases of Solanaceae, can negate all the efforts spent. This dangerous infection causes a special kind of fungus - Phytophthora infestans, whose spores are spread mainly by the wind and through rainwater.
Most dacha residents know that it is much easier to prevent than treat such an unpleasant disease as tomato late blight. Prevention is, first of all, in the fall of the leaves and the thorough digging of the beds. In addition, it is necessary to carry out treatment with fungicides, Bordeaux liquid or copper vitriol (0.1% solution). The last two drugs (optional) are applied a week before the transfer of seedlings to a permanent place.
Fighting tomato late blight can be carried out by trimming infected stems and leaves. Strong plants are less prone to infection. Therefore, it is important to ensure the correct maintenance of tomatoes.
If the disease is still massively struck by tomatoes - late blight did not recede, you should try to save at least some share of the crop. For this, green fruit is removed from the bushes, under the skin of which there are no brown spots, and they are lowered into the water heated to 60 degrees for two minutes. After that, the tomatoes are taken out and transferred to a sufficiently warm place for ripening.
Thus, in order to prevent the phytophthora from becoming a real problem on the site, it is necessary to take a number of measures without fail - periodically to process the plants, choose the right place for planting, and carry out good care for them.
