Do not turn the starter. What to do?

If the car does not spin a starter, there may be several reasons. The car was wound up with a pusher light - it means a malfunction in the starter itself, or there is no supply of energy from the battery.

First of all, if the starter does not turn, you need to check the battery. Contacts must be well tightened and not oxidized. If the terminals are rapidly oxidized, grease them after stripping. The voltage supply also depends on the quality of the installed terminals. It is better to put parts from brass or lead, because now they began to press those made of incomprehensible metal. Outwardly they are in order, but over time a film forms inside which is incapable of conducting current and is practically not visible.

In the absence of a click, if the starter does not turn, try to check the battery performance on a known good machine. And if it got started without any problems, then it's worth to look into the wiring and check its serviceability.

The above cases are the simplest. Now consider the situation more complicated. Why does not the starter rotate and what could be the reason?

If the battery is in excellent condition, and your car does not start stubbornly, in this case it is necessary to check in the retracting relay of the penny. To do this, remove it from the starter, disassemble and clean it with a file. And if you are unwilling to mess with the retractor, it is better, of course, to acquire a new one. In the case of excellent work and this relay, it is worth paying attention to the generator brushes. The indirect cause of their malfunction may be wear and tear, because suddenly they do not break down, but are gradually erased.

If the smoke from the starter fires, then in all probability a short circuit has occurred and it can not be replaced with a new one.

Sometimes there is a break in the wire of the mass that connects the car body to the power unit, so the car does not start, the starter does not turn, but in this case there is a click, however, the brake, clutch or gas cable is heated. What if the starter (VAZ) does not turn?

There are two types of starters for our domestic car. They are almost identical and interchangeable. In one, the collector is of the end type, while in the second one it is an ordinary cylindrical type.

It is not necessary to pull it out of the terminal of the housing, since it is almost impossible to put it into place, it is necessary to remove the starter. So, the most elementary probe is a small light bulb with a pair of wiring, you can check the voltage on this bare wire section, naturally, with the starter running.

If there is no voltage, a possible malfunction may be in the ignition key itself. Here, it is worth to bring the voltage directly to the bare wire from the positive terminal. And if successful, you just need to change the key. This is the simplest and elementary remediable fault.
