Tips for truck farmers: how to grow pepper seedlings

In our country, pepper is grown as an annual culture and only through seedlings. There are two main varieties of this vegetable - sweet (Bulgarian) and spicy (spicy). At the same time, the first, for obvious reasons, is most in demand among truck farmers, and spicy lovers grow exclusively for themselves, that is, in small quantities.

Those who know how tomato seedlings are grown , know perfectly well how to answer the question: "How to grow pepper seedlings correctly". The fact is that these two processes are very similar. Therefore, this article is addressed, first of all, to beginners in the trucking business.

In general, the agrotechnics of growing such a crop is very simple - if desired, anyone can get a good harvest. For this, several features should be considered.

How to grow pepper seedlings: instruction

1. We prepare the soil. Today in gardening stores you can buy already prepared and fertilized with all necessary nutrients soil for seedlings. True to buy it is not the one that is the most acceptable for the price, and the quality of which already has positive feedback from your friends (neighbors in the suburban area, for example). Also you can make the composition yourself. To do this, take one piece of river sand and peat and two parts of turf ground. Mix everything and add a glass of ash (based on the standard bucket), superphosphate (30-40 g), potassium sulfate (15 g) and urea (15 g).

2. Prepare the seeds. Seeds of pepper should be previously decontaminated in a solution of potassium permanganate. To do this, dissolve 1 g of manganese potassium in a liter of water (preferably not tap, and thawed or stagnant for at least 12 hours).

3. We sow the seeds. Seeds of pepper for seedlings are planted, as a rule, in the first ten days of March. Many experienced truck farmers use the lunar calendar to determine favorable days for sowing. Seedlings of pepper are recommended to grow only in individual pots or cups in the size of 6 to 6 or 8 by 8 cm. This is necessary because the sprouts of sweet pepper quite badly endure the pick. In each pot, put 2-3 seeds and put them in a small box (or tray) with a foam pad on the bottom.

4. We create favorable conditions. To answer the question of how to grow sweet pepper seedlings, this item is very important, as pepper - the culture is warm and hygrophilous. Therefore, just to place the boxes on the windowsill is not worth it - there may well be a draft. It is better to cover them from above with a film, fix with an adhesive tape or a stapler and put it on a board that is put close to the wall on the battery. The main thing now is not to let the air of access. Also, to control the temperature, place a thermometer next to it. At temperatures below 13 degrees, the growth of seedlings ceases. If you did everything under this instruction, then after 7 days, the first shoots will already appear. When there will be a mass germination of pepper seeds, you can remove the film and put the box on the windowsill - closer to the light source. And, again, try to avoid drafts.

5. Water the seedlings. Water the seedlings at first once in two or three days abundantly and in the morning hours with warm water (25-30 degrees) from a hole with holes. For the phase of well-developed cotyledons watering can also be carried out with water at a temperature of 15-18 degrees, but already daily. If you want to know how to properly grow pepper seedlings, it is important not to allow short-term drying of the soil, or its waterlogging. The latter can lead to root rot. In order to avoid such a problem, it is necessary to ensure a normal drainage of excess moisture from pots with waterlogged soil.

6. We feed seedlings. Two weeks after the emergence (or in the phase of two or three real leaves), make the first fertilizing. For 10 liters of water, add superphosphate (25 g), ammonium nitrate (10 g), potassium sulfate (15 g). The second feeding is performed 2 weeks before the transplanting in the soil with the same solution. After feeding, be sure to pour the plants, and if the solution gets on the leaves, carefully wash them with warm water.

7. We harden the seedlings. Approximately 10-14 days before landing in the open ground, season the seedlings. The optimum temperature for this process is 14-15 degrees. First, open the window for a short time, then take out the seedlings on the balcony, covering it from direct sunlight. If the temperature on the balcony does not fall below the specified temperature range, then leave seedlings there around the clock.

8. Plant the seedlings. The more experienced gardener who knows how to grow a good crop of pepper, say that the age of seedlings when planting in the ground is a particularly important point. So, the best results you get from 80-90-day seedlings. But the 60-day will provide twice less harvest.

To significantly increase the yield will help the place itself, chosen for planting. Neighborliness of pepper and cucumbers in this respect is very favorable, since necessary exchanges of useful substances will take place between these cultures.

Plant seedling according to the scheme of 60 for 35 or 30 by 30 cm. Extract the plant from the pot with the clod of earth and fill it to the level of the first real leaves.

Since now you know how to properly grow pepper seedlings and make it planted in the open ground, the seedlings will quickly get accustomed, and the culture will bear fruit until late autumn.
