Tingling in the fingers. Causes.

Such unpleasant sensations as tingling in the fingers, numbness, "creepy", periodically arise in each of us. This condition is most often associated with a temporary nerve compression, for example, with a prolonged stay in an uncomfortable position. Hands become numb when they are in a bent or raised state, if you hold on to the rail for a long time in transport, while wearing tight clothes, when working on a computer. It is only necessary to change the posture, as numbness and tingling in the fingers disappears.

Another thing is if unpleasant symptoms appear more and more often. In this case, you need to go to the hospital for a checkup, because such signs indicate the development of neurological diseases.

"Shivers" and tingling in the fingers occurs when the nerves are compressed or irritated in various parts of the body.

If the nerve in the cervical region is impaired, the radicular syndrome develops, in which patients complain of numbness and tingling in their hands. The reasons for the appearance of the syndrome are several - osteochondrosis of the cervical spine, spinal hernia, tumors, lateral displacement of the vertebrae, spondyloarthrosis, infectious lesions (tuberculosis, osteomyelitis)

The compression of the ulnar nerve leads to the emergence of a cubital syndrome, the signs of which are pain, numbness, weakness in the hands, tingling in the fingers, namely in the little finger and anonymous. This syndrome develops from the often repeated bending of the arm at the elbow, with the emphasis on the inner parts of the elbows, incorrect fixation of the hands when working on the computer, prolonged exposure to the arm in a bent position, for example, in a dream. Often the appearance of the syndrome is due to the specificity of the profession, in which excessive influence on the ulnar nerve occurs. Another cause of the development of the cubital syndrome may be a thickened nerve - in this case, the walls of the canal are pressed against it. I must say that the size of the canal is such that the nerve is barely fit between the bone and the ligament, and the slightest external influence can lead to a disruption in its functioning. First, unpleasant sensations arise only with prolonged exposure to the ulnar nerve, but with the development of the disease these signs become more pronounced and are present all the time. Refusal of treatment leads to atrophy of the muscles of the arm.

Another reason, because of which there is a tingling in the limbs - tunnel syndrome. To its development is the compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. Most often this is due to work, which involves constantly making the same movements with your hands. The work of packers, pianists, those whose work is related to work on the computer. Other factors leading to tunnel syndrome: arthritis of the hands, swelling of the hands with fluid retention in the body, for example, during pregnancy, swelling, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and wrist injuries. The disease is initially weakly expressed and does not cause anxiety, but gradually the pain and tingling in the fingers and palms are becoming more noticeable. The absence of treatment leads to atrophy of the muscles of the thumb.

Numbness and tingling in the fingers can occur when the nerve roots and trunks in the shoulder joint are squeezed - the staircase syndrome. Patients complain of pain in the shoulder and arm, weakness, numbness and tingling in the hand, especially in the little finger and ring finger, sometimes on chilliness in the limb. With the tilt of the head, these sensations intensify. The cause of the syndrome is cervical osteochondrosis, which causes irritation of the nerve roots that cause reflex muscle spasms. As a result of muscular spasm, the subclavian artery and the brachial plexus are squeezed.

Numbness and tingling of the hands can be associated with stroke, multiple sclerosis, infectious and heart diseases, lack of vitamins, malnutrition, trauma.

In any case, to make the correct diagnosis, you should consult a doctor.
