The title of "Hero of Labor" and the people who received it

In 1921, the Central Executive Committee established the title of "Hero of Labor", which was mentioned in the certificates handed to the best employees on behalf of the enterprise. Not all of them were satisfied with it. Only those people whose work experience was large enough could count on such a title. In the spring of 1921 a significant event occurred: approximately 250 first-class Moscow and Petrograd workers were recognized as Heroes of Labor. Since 1927, honorary title began to be appropriated to people who have done a lot of useful work for production, distinguished themselves in public or public service, as well as in research activities. The important point was that the Hero of Labor could only be called the one who had worked for at least 35 years. Of course, this is a very long time. Not every person can work hard for such a long period. In 1938 the present rank was abolished. Why is that? The Presidium of the Supreme Council simply issued a decree according to which the new title of Hero of Socialist Labor was to enter into force.

The forefathers of labor in the post-war period

After the end of the war, the people faced the difficult task of raising the country from the ruins. Some populated areas had to be rebuilt in fact. It is not surprising that during this period there were many foremost laborers, including pioneers. The most famous of them, perhaps, are N. Chelebadze and T. Matkazimov. They were recognized as Heroes of Socialist Labor.

Tursunali Matkazimov

Tursunali worked in Tajikistan, on the collective farm, named after Frunze. The working conditions were heavy. The future Hero of Labor was in the squad, including the same pioneers as himself. Once the children were given a plot on which they sowed cotton. Pioneers carefully looked after plants. However, soon there were frosts, as a result of which all crops could die. But Tursunali was determined. He told the guys that cotton should be kept at all costs. A few nights in a row the pioneers did not leave the field and lit fires. They also put homemade paper caps on each plant to try to save the gentle shoots from the cold. Of course, some bushes died, but most of the crop survived. The whole squad was declared grateful, and shortly thereafter, in 1948, the resourceful and decisive Tursunali was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor.

Natella Celebadze

Natella Celebadze is a young Georgian pioneer. She worked on the plantation, collecting tea. The work was not at all easy, and not every adult woman could perform it. Workers usually took large baskets in their hands and walked through the plantation, collecting leaves. But their activities did not stop there. At the next stage, they sorted the leaves and sorted them into varieties. All this took a very long time. It seemed that such a job can be handled only by a very persistent, stubborn man, a true Hero of Labor. However, this activity, strangely enough, was the prerogative of fragile women, who often lost their health on the plantations. But Natella was obviously an intelligent girl, and was able to ease her work. She asked her mother to make her a special bag, in which there would be several pockets. Natella hung the bag around her neck, leaving both her hands free, which is very convenient for collecting tea. The girl tore off the leaves and immediately sorted them, distributing them in pockets. Great idea, is not it? Celebadze collected over 5,000 kilograms of tea leaves, and it is not surprising that in 1949 she became the Hero of Socialist Labor.

Valery Gergiev

May 1, 2013 is a special date that went down in history. On this day the title of "Hero of Labor of Russia" was established. The President awarded outstanding workers with gold medals and diplomas.

This title, in particular, was awarded to Valery Gergiev - People's Artist of our country, conductor and director of the Mariinsky Theater. He is an extraordinary person. He is among the best conductors of the world. Gergiev nurtured many outstanding actors. Most of his work is to support young artists, talented domestic singers and music groups.

Having received a well-deserved award, Gergiev promised that in the coming years his theater will certainly please viewers. The whole world will understand that the support provided by the state has only benefited.

Yuri Konov

The mechanic Yuri Konov, who worked hard for 38 years, is now also a Hero of Labor. Today, this man is among the most respected employees of the enterprise "Russia-Agro". How much time has passed since the twenty-year-old Yuri just started working on a collective farm called "Lenin's Memory"! Being still quite a young man, he received several departmental and state awards for labor achievements. Konov was one of the pioneers who started using new technologies in the field of agriculture, thanks to which every year it was possible to collect abundant harvests of sunflower, as well as sugar beet. Today the Hero of Labor is very proud of his rank, and all his friends and colleagues believe that he really deserved it.
