The theater of comedy. Akimova: repertoire, photo, reviews

In the center of the city, on Nevsky Prospekt, there is a building of one of the best theaters in Petersburg, which features comedy performances. They are known not only throughout Russia, but also far beyond its borders. Both the building and the theater itself boast a rich history, in which there were many ups and downs. All these circumstances created traditions and brought up more than one generation of talented actors.

Start

In the distant 1904, almost in the center of Nevsky Prospekt, it was decided to build a trading house. Two brothers of the Eliseevs became its owners. Soon on the first floor actively operated their store. Nevertheless, he did not bring the expected profit, so part of the premises began to rent.

Those who wished found quickly. A vacant second floor was occupied by a young actor's studio. The place just met the demands of the theater: the city center, additional advertising at the expense of neighbors. Very quickly the actors found their niche. Their repertoire consisted mainly of comedic works. People enjoyed the performances with pleasure, since there were no worthy analogs in Petersburg at that time. But the success did not last long. The revolution made its own adjustments.

Soviet time

After World War I, not only the second floor, but also the entire center, gets to the stage of satire. The main creative skeleton gathered in 1925. And the building was transferred to the hands of art in 1929. A short period of take-off began.

The theater was directed by Gutman, who staged the first play on the new stage called "Shuler". The performance was a success with the local audience. A couple of years later, Satir decided to combine with the Comedy. So the Theater of Satire and Comedy of Leningrad appeared. Its head was the actress Granovskaya. This largely determined the further development of the theater site.

For many years the actress was leading the theater. Won, comedy and other productions were made with regard to its tastes and under it. At the same time, Leonid Utesov, the budding figure, worked there.

Six years future Comedy Theater. Akimov existed with a stable troupe. But eventually the actors began to leave from there. The reason was the reluctance of the leadership to transfer the main roles to young talents. And with it the interest of viewers, who were already fed up with the same faces, fell.

Akimov

When the black days came for the theater, and even the city government planned to close it, a new opportunity arose. By 1935 the site was christened "the most terrible" in Leningrad. We needed radical changes. It was decided to appoint a new leader. The head was a very active theater artist Akimov. He was just beginning to try himself as a director, yet he was not afraid of responsibility and agreed.

Akimov had a year to restore and revive the theater. With his arrival, such changes began, which no one expected. From the theater left Granovskaya, as well as Utesov. New blood was poured into him from the studio "Experiment". Thanks to Akimov, "Satire and Comedy" acquired a new face.

Nikolai Pavlovich finds a soul mate in the playwright Schwarz, with whom they put real masterpieces. The bid was made for novelty. Schwartz wrote plays, which are still proud of the comedy theater them. Akimov - "Dragon", as well as "Shadow."

But the changes did not stop there. Akimov begins work with the translator Lozinsky. Very soon in the repertoire appearings on the works of Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, Sheridan and Priestley.

In the creation of scenery Akimov took a personal part, and for the actors left the freedom of creativity. They were free to independently interpret the images of world-famous characters.

The glory of the new theater, young actors, interesting performances spread across the vast territory of the Soviet Union. "Satire and Comedy" received the honorary title of one of the best institutions of culture in the country.

War

When the war came, the scene was not closed. For some time the collective lived with their families just in the bomb shelter under the Bolshoi Drama Theater, where they showed new performances. And in 1941 they had to leave Leningrad and move to Ashgabat.

In this city they not only did not stop playing, but also showed the local audience as many as 16 new performances.

Peace time has come

After the war, Akimov was removed from office, as he staged plays of foreign playwrights on stage. Immediately the theater began to fall apart. From 1949 to 1956, Nikolai Petrovich was not in place of the director, and the site came to a complete decline. In 1956, he was returned, and everything came to life again.

Akimov died in 1968, during a tour, while in Moscow.

After

When Nikolay Petrovich was gone, the theater was transferred from one leader to another. The directors changed very often, and it was only Golikov who managed to linger in 1970. Under him, the site received its current name - the Academic Comedy Theater named after. Akimova.

After Golikov, Fomenko started the stage, then Astrakhan, and now Kazakova became the head.

For a long time the theater of comedy. Akimova was under repair. In 2008, for the first time in sixty years of its existence, builders were invited who thoroughly worked both with the facade and with the interior.

A new chapter was opened from the life of the theater with the play "Shadow", once written by Schwartz.
