The size of uterine fibroids, its diagnosis and treatment.

One of the most common female diseases is the uterine myoma. It appears most often in women of the reproductive period, since it is associated with the production of estrogen, female sex hormones by the body. After the onset of menopause myoma appears less often, sometimes the existing tumor after the termination of menstruation decreases slightly. Myoma is a kind of reaction to irritation of the uterus. This can be mechanical damage during abortions, cleansing, difficult births. Menstruation also "damage" the uterus, as there is a rejection of its mucous membrane - the layer of the endometrium. The more a woman experiences menstruation (that is, the less she gives birth and breastfeeding), the more likely she is to have myoma nodes. Therefore, according to medical statistics, currently about 80% of women have this disease.

Such a large prevalence of myomas was also obtained because this disease is very often asymptomatic. And only when the size of the uterine myoma becomes impressive, there may be some signs: pulling, pressing pain in the abdomen, pain during menstruation, spotting. Rarely, the symptoms of fibroids may be diseases of neighboring organs (rectum, bladder).

Benign tumor formation in the form of nodules that occur on muscle tissue (myometrium) - this is the myoma of the uterus. Its dimensions depend on the number of nodules, the dynamics of their growth. At the examination small tumors are determined, starting from a few millimeters; Can grow up to several centimeters. The size of uterine fibroids sometimes can reach very high rates. In the history of medicine, a case of removal of a myoma weighing 63 kilograms is fixed!

There are multiple fibroids, when it consists of several nodules, and a single one. The most common location is the intermuscular myoma. Less common are the subperitoneal, cervical, intercellular, submucosal.

Sometimes a woman who has not been properly examined takes a fibroid for pregnancy. Not casually the sizes of a hysteromyoma of a uterus are often defined, as the sizes of a fruit, in weeks.

Treatment of myoma until recently was uniquely operational. The nodules were removed, and if the uterine myoma was found large, the uterus was also removed. The woman was deprived of the opportunity to have children. Now, other than this method, there are other, more sparing. Of course, the treatment of fibroids, like any other disease, will depend on the degree of its neglect. Therefore, it is so important to regularly undergo a gynecological examination. Discovered at an early stage of development, the tumor can be easily removed by laparoscopy or hysteroscopy. These are low-traumatic methods of modern surgery. The method of embolization of uterine arteries consists in the artificial clogging of blood vessels supplying myoma. As a result, the tumor dies without receiving the necessary nutrition. It is possible and medication. The choice of the method is made by the doctor, having in mind various factors, including the size of the uterine myoma.

There are no special preventive measures aimed at preventing this disease. But the doctors' observations made it possible to conclude that those women who use oral contraceptives are less likely to get sick with uterine myoma.

Traditional medicine has experimentally determined the ways to combat myoma. Used broths, infusions of various plants. For example, a decoction of a dried leaf of burdock, a mixture of aloe juice with honey, hawthorn and St. John's wort is used. Folk remedies may help in the treatment of uterine fibroids, they will stop its development, but it is unlikely to get rid of the tumor with such means. Therefore, the main thing still remains timely diagnosis of the disease and unconditional adherence to all the recommendations of the doctor.
