The path of Kneipp - the healing effect of water on humans

Hydrotherapy is the main activity of Sebastian Kneipp, who lived in Bavaria in the 19th century. He, knowing about the medicinal properties of water, tried to systematize this knowledge. And he succeeded. Trying all the methods on himself, he was healed. Today, Kneipp hydrotherapy is actively used in sanatoria, fitness clubs, spa centers, medical clinics.

Hydrotherapy according to the Kneipp method consists in using several procedures, these are:

  • Walking barefoot on wet surfaces;
  • Baths;
  • Reception of water (clean and in the form of herbal infusions).

Kneipp's healing method

Sebastian Kneip on himself tried the most varied options for the effects of water on the human body: baths, dousing, walking on water and much more. He described all his rich experience in a book he called My Hydrotherapy. As a result - a whole systematic method for improving the body. It consists of several principles:

  1. Hydrotherapy.
  2. Healthy food.
  3. Phytotherapy.
  4. Gymnastics.
  5. Walking.
  6. Psychosomatics.

All these trends are still developing. Many sanatoriums, hospitals (both abroad and in Russia) offer improved methods of Kneipp.

Actively, Sebastian was engaged in the development of an effective method of tempering the body. It included 3 stages:

  1. Walking on the water.
  2. Immersion in cold water.
  3. Pouring.

The famous track

The first stage of Kneipp hardening served as an impetus for creating a special track. It represents several water tanks at once. Some are filled with hot liquid, some cold. All of them are next to each other. To create natural reliefs at the bottom of these tanks, modern tiles with imitation of stone, grass, etc. are now being used. Such a surface allows you to massage acupuncture points on the foot that affect the functioning of all organs of the human body.

For sanatoriums, SPA-salons and other similar establishments sale of such devices is provided. The path of Kneipp can be round, rectangular, with handrails, various designs. It is equipped with special systems that independently maintain the temperature inside the tanks, and are also responsible for changing the water.

The Kneip path, equipped with its own hands, will be a wonderful addition in the bathhouse, at the dacha. This is a great healing and relaxing remedy. You can create both a temporary version of such a track (from different capacities), and a permanent one. This will require basins or any other containers, grass, stones, sand, as well as water of different temperatures.

Kneip path: how to use?

There are special recommendations on how the path of Kneipp should be traversed. This will help to get the desired effect faster. Before proceeding to the passage, it is recommended to thoroughly warm up the body or at least only the legs and hands.

Further, experts advise to follow this sequence:

  1. Walk on the grass. This stage should not take more than 10 minutes. The main thing is to feel a slight chill in your legs.
  2. Moving on cold water is better than a marching step. This will help to feel the contrast of warm air and cool water. The main thing is to keep even breathing, and the steps should be smooth and slow. This procedure should last a few minutes.
  3. Next, a neat and slow step should go through the entire track. Then the step can be accelerated. Duration - 10 minutes.
  4. After that, it should be for 10-20 seconds to lower your hands to the elbow in cold water. This is the final stage.

After the path of Kneipp is passed, it is recommended to dress and drink hot tea, infused with medicinal herbs.
