St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy: description, specialties and reviews

In St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg State Academy of Veterinary Medicine invites you to get a veterinary education. History and specialties of the Academy

At the beginning of the XIX century, scientists of St. Petersburg thought about the need for training veterinarians, because in the state were very common infectious diseases of animals - raging plague, pneumonia, anthrax. In 1808, the veterinary department was established in the Imperial Medical-Surgical Academy, functioning in the city. So the roots of the existing university were laid.

The department worked until 1873. Then he was transformed into a veterinary institute. After 10 years, the school was closed. The city stopped preparing veterinarians. The changes occurred in a few dozen years. In 1919, the Petrograd veterinary and zootechnical institute was opened. From this educational institution in the future, the St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy has grown.

St. Petersburg State Veterinary Academy has an important advantage - 8 museums. Students study anatomical artifacts, get acquainted with macro-preparations on pathologies and various diseases in animals. "Veterinary and sanitary examination"

The actual and demanded direction of training in the academy is "Veterinary-sanitary examination". The corresponding faculty was opened in 2003. Future veterinary and sanitary doctors here study the anatomy of animals, toxicology, microbiology, internal diseases, infections, parasites. Students also study the conduct of veterinary and sanitary examinations.

Graduates of the academy can conduct testing of products and raw materials of animal origin. That's why some of the young specialists are arranged for the enterprises engaged in the processing of dairy and meat products. Some of the graduates work in expert organizations, supervisory bodies.

"Biology"

In 2010, the St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy opened a department of bioecology. This structural unit is functioning now and is preparing biologists. These specialists work in environmental institutions, research institutes, botanical gardens, etc.

During their studies, students study a wide range of disciplines related to flora and fauna. Trainees are trained for professional activities, which include:

"Aquaculture and water resources"

This direction of preparation is young in a higher educational institution. The first set of applicants St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy held in 2010. Applicants with a vocational education have a choice - to take objects in the form of USE or pass the entrance examinations offered by the St. Petersburg State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. In total, applicants take 3 subjects. In all areas of training they are the same:

  • Russian language;
  • mathematics;
  • biology.

To apply, you must pass the math at least 28 points, and the Russian language and biology - at least 40 points. These points do not guarantee receipt to the budget. St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy reviews are different. Other people do not advise coming here. On the basis of the Academy there is a clinic where specialists render veterinary services. Some owners of animals negatively speak about doctors. According to people, these specialists do not have sufficient level of knowledge, do not have important personal qualities, so they can not teach anything to students.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the St. Petersburg Veterinary Academy is the oldest university in Russia, which prepares veterinarians, biologists and other specialists. Several thousand students here get theoretical knowledge, acquire important skills while passing practice in a clinic that operates on the basis of an educational organization.
