The medicine "ACTS 200" (tablets effervescent, granules) refers to mucolytic agents. The drug dilutes sputum, increasing its volume, and facilitates its separation. The active substance is acetylcysteine.

The mechanism of action of the drug is based on the ability of the sulfhydryl groups of the active substance to break disulfide bonds in acid secretory mucopolysaccharides. The drug "ATSTS" retains its medicinal properties and with purulent sputum. The medication does not affect the state of immunity.

The drug has an antioxidant property, has some anti-inflammatory effect.

The duration of therapy is determined in accordance with the indications only by the attending physician. As a rule, the treatment does not exceed ten days.

For patients at the age of 65 years, the minimum effective dosages are recommended.
