The main symptoms of liver disease

The largest internal organ of the human body, consisting of soft tissues - is the liver. It is located on the right side, under the diaphragm, in the upper part of the abdominal cavity. The purpose of the body is to cleanse the human body of toxins and participate in metabolic processes. Violations in its functioning affect the state of the whole organism. Therefore, the slightest malaise, which has symptoms of liver disease, should not remain unnoticed.

Symptoms of liver disease in humans

From people suffering from liver disease, you can often hear complaints of dull pain in the area of the organ. This definition is somewhat wrong, there are no nerve endings in it, they are only in the shells that cover it. Painful sensations of varying degrees of intensity arise precisely because of the expansion of these membranes as the volume increases. Many patients note the increased pain with increasing intensity of exercise and motor activity. Increasing pain can spread to the area of the right scapula and give back.

But the frequent nausea, the urge to vomit, the change in skin color to grayish-yellow - the indisputable symptoms of liver disease. Also, patients may experience diarrhea and darkening of the urine, a strong bitterness in the mouth. The remaining symptoms of liver disease in humans, such as intolerance to fatty foods, loss of appetite, a sense of weakness - are largely due to the type of particular malaise and stage of its development.

Types of liver disease and their symptoms

The most common is chronic hepatitis. It is characterized by a symmetrical insignificant increase in the proportion of the liver. In patients, yellowness of the skin and sclera of the eyes can be observed. Hepatitis can last more than six months, causes minor changes in the results of laboratory tests, accompanied by increased fatigue and weakness. More severe consequences have viral chronic hepatitis. It causes symptoms more threatening, dramatically worsens the results of laboratory tests, causes an increase in the spleen and can even be the cause of the development of cirrhosis. The causes of hepatitis, which occurs in an acute form, are several types of hepatitis viruses .

Severe diseases include cirrhosis, which is characterized not only by the presence of an inflammatory process in all tissues of the liver, but also by the proliferation of connective tissue, a violation in the circulation of the surrounding abdominal organs. Characteristic symptoms: exhaustion, icterus, pain in the liver and bloating.

Practically asymptomatic disease occurs with steatosis, and the appearance of benign neoplasms also does not cause complaints. These violations are detected only when examined by a doctor or ultrasound.

Signs of liver disease in children

Doctors say that the difficulty of timely recognition of liver diseases in children, relates them to a number of very serious problems. The reason is that the defeat of this organ has rather limited forms of manifestation - the initial symptoms of various disorders can manifest themselves virtually identically. The reason for immediate contact with a doctor with a complaint may be the appearance of jaundice in the child, indicating the changes that are occurring. Careful research can confirm the existence of the disease and help determine its type.

Symptoms of viral hepatitis in older children can manifest themselves in the flu-like form, the disease is accompanied by fever, abdominal pain, vomiting. Particular attention should be paid to darkening of urine. It may be difficult to identify hepatitis A, because in children younger than 5 years of age - it often has an icteric shape.
