The main river is in Murom. Features of the Oka river water basin

The river in Murom enchants with its beauty and picturesqueness. This is an ideal place where you can relax with the whole family or with friends, and also successfully fish. The source of Oka is located in one of the regions of Russia - Orel. In the Kaluga area, its course is quite fast, the banks are very steep, and the width of the river is too small. Further downstream, due to a turn to the east, the valley of the water flow begins to expand rapidly. Already near the Moscow border, you can see that the width of the Oka is 200 m, the depth reaches 2 m. It is the mouth of the Moscow River, which flows into it near Kolomna.

Murom

The main city in Murom district is Murom. The map of Russia clearly shows that this administrative center is on one of the banks of the Oka River. It is one of the most ancient settlements of the country. About Murom for several centuries there were various stories, legends and myths. To say why the city is called that way is almost impossible, because the etymology of the name is unknown to this day. Presumably, the so-called tribe, who lived in this territory several centuries ago, was called.

At the moment, on the watercourse few passenger ships go to Murom. Oka River often serves to transport various types of cargo.

Flow features

The water flow begins in the village of Alexandrovka. Here its valley is not very wide. Oka flows first to the north, connecting with Orlik, then with Upya. In the area of the confluence with the Ugra, the current sharply unfolds in an easterly direction. And after some distance again turns to the north. Near the village of Protvino the current makes a deviation to the east.

Going beyond the city of Murom, the river Oka, flowing through Serpuhovo and Stupino, is the border between two regions: Tula and Moscow. Fusing in Kolomna with the Moscow River, it flows to the south.

Changing several times the direction of the current, dividing conventionally several regions, Oka finally empties into the Volga near Nizhny Novgorod.

Characteristics of the water flow

The length of the Oka is 1400 km, the area of the basin is 254 thousand km 2 . It is located in the European part of the Russian Federation. Has a few sleeves and an old man. Last spring, often either completely dry out, or fill with water and overgrown. In some places, the river in Murom serves as a visual boundary for forests and steppes.

Oka glaciation occurs in December, an autopsy in April-March. At spring floods (lasting 40 days) the water level increases several times, reaching 12 m. Flood on the river lasts no more than two months. During this time, Oka manages to flood in the floodplain for hundreds of meters. Due to the climate in summer, the water level becomes low, sometimes even severely critical, but after heavy rains it comes back to normal.

Oka, which occupies not the last place in its length, its settlements, especially the city of Murom, can be proud of. The river feeds on underground, rain and snow waters.

Animal and plant life

The mouth of the Murom watercourse is the Volga, therefore the representatives of the flora and fauna of these rivers are practically the same. Any fisherman can say that the most common species here are pike perch, bream, perch, roach and others. Sometimes you can see a sterlet, a Chekhov. Due to sewage, which regularly enter the river, the amount of fish is reduced.

The river in Murom, or rather its floodplain, is very rich in swamps, trees. On its shores, vegetation such as sedge, willow, pike grows. Here you can often find a zopnik, a cornflower and a tulip. The shores of the Oka are covered in some places with forests and burs. In order to preserve all these picturesque places and rare vegetation, a reserve was established. It is inhabited by foxes, bison, moose. Of the brightest representatives of birds there are kites, hazel grouses, wood grouses.

Ecology

Which river in Murom is an important waterway? Oka! However, its ecological status has recently suffered serious problems. In some areas, the Oka water is only for technical use. For example, in the Spassk-Ryazan region, hydrologists, having carried out special works, determined that this site is as polluted as possible, and the ecosystem has completely degraded. At the same time, the main source of pollution is the mouth of the watercourse, where most of the various garbage and chemicals come from.

Volga - the mouth of the Oka River

One of the largest rivers of the planet Earth is the Volga. It covers 4 republics and 11 regions. There is a river in the basin of the Caspian Sea. Its name comes from the Slavic words "moisture" or "vologa." It feeds on the melting of snow, ice, and underground water. Flood occurs in spring and summer, often in April-June. Winter and summer for the river is characterized by a low water, in the autumn - small floods due to rain. The water level fluctuates constantly. In different parts of the river, the depth varies considerably. After the construction of dams and the formation of several reservoirs, the flow of the watercourse was completely settled.

The river in Murom is very rich in many species of fish, particularly pike perch, pike, bream, yazya, asp, etc. Due to its large tributaries, the Oka is considered to be a full-flowing stream. In the nearby area there are reserves and bases, rest houses and sanatoriums. The valley of the river enchants with its forests, burs and birch forests. The waters are quite restless, in some parts of the watercourse the current velocity reaches 0.5 m / s. Small waves wash away everything that they find on the way: blocks of clay, shrubs on the banks, terraces, boulders, stones.
