In the summer of 2013, on large screens, viewers could contemplate the work of director Yuri Bykov - the film "Major". The picture was mixed, but the noise around it rose. The film is awarded numerous awards in Russia and abroad.

Story line

Events unfold in a small provincial town. Early in the morning Sergei Sobolev, a character played by Denis Shvedov, wakes up from a phone call. He is a police major. From the conversation it becomes clear that the pregnant wife of the major should soon give birth.

Sobolev breaks out of the house and rushes on his BMW in the hospital. Not considering it necessary to follow the rules of the road and high-speed regime, to death kills the child. This all happens right before the eyes of the unhappy mother, whose role was perfectly played by Irina Nizina.

In order to avoid punishment, Sobolev closes the desperate mother of the child in the car. At the same time he starts to call somewhere. Having told about his colleague Korshunov, whose role is played by the director himself Yuri Bykov, the major remains to wait for help.

At this time, the truck stops and the driver offers his help to an accident. But Sobolev refuses.

Soon his friends-colleagues come and begin to cover up the tracks. The traffic police officer gives the mother of the affected child cognac in the guise of a sedative. After that, the medical examination confirms that she was in a state of intoxication and could overlook her son herself.

As a result, Korshunov threatens to sign a woman protocol, in which she justifies Major Sobolev.

But the discontented father of the child is looking for justice and comes to the police station with a gun, demanding that he be given the culprit in the death of his son. There he accidentally kills one of the employees.

Then begins the whole nightmare, which entails a huge number of innocent victims.

Sobolev realizes his guilt and tries to save the mother of the deceased child, whom the Korshunov is going to kill.

At the end of the film, the major himself kills a woman with a shot in the back of his neck after Korshunov's threats to deal with his family.

After that, Sobolev catches a ride, the same truck that viewers have already seen at the beginning of the film, and goes to the hospital to his wife.

Actors and roles

In addition to the excellent work of the director, the cameraman and the touching story that formed the basis of the plot, there are many more advantages to this picture. "Major" is a film, the actors in which coped with the task perfectly and passed the main idea perfectly.

The role of the central character was performed by Denis Shvedov.

He already had experience working with director Yuri Bykov in the films "Live" and "Cash collectors". For work in this picture he was awarded the prize for the best male role at the international festival in Vladivostok. A very complicated character turned out: Sobolev like and would like to fix everything, but where to fight him with the system, and at the same time he is the culprit of all the horror that unfolds in the film.

Irina Nizina received another award for her role in the film.

She played here the unfortunate mother of the deceased boy. Despite everything that Irina Gutorova fell upon the woman, she looks dignified and wisely speaking in a conversation with Sobolev.

The director himself is also rewarded. Here he plays Pavel Korshunov, Sobolev's colleague. It is by his hands that evil is committed.

In late October 2015, the new series "Method" is coming out - another heavy, psychological thriller. But here the main character is a maniac, and a new trend appears in the work of the director.
