The enigma of the island of Java: interesting and useful information for tourists

The mystery of the island of Java attracts many from the very childhood. In the beginning, this place on the map seems to us a kind of mysterious territory, containing in itself the secrets of the past and numerous treasures buried in the ground by bloodthirsty pirates. A little later we are eager to visit there in search of new impressions and unique photos.

Section 1. General description of the island of Java

The island of Java is the most famous and the fifth largest island of the Indonesian archipelago, which today houses 130 million people (more than 65% of Indonesia's population). In this area you can see hundreds of volcanoes, unique landscapes of Dieng Plateau, various samples of flora and fauna, many ancient palaces, temples, mosques and sanctuaries.

Thanks to the tropical climate, there are practically no temperature changes on the island all year round. The weather here is divided into two seasons: during the first (from March to October) it is constantly dry, and during the second one rains constantly. Humidity of the atmosphere within the island of Java ranges from 75% to 95%, and the air temperature ranges from +26 C to +29 C.

Section 2. Local Attractions

In Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, there are many buildings of the XVII-XVIII centuries. A special tourist map of the island of Java, which can be purchased almost everywhere, shows this as well as possible. Near the first city center, Taman Fatahil Square, surrounded by ancient buildings, there is an ancient port, an old cannon, a drawbridge and a Jinge-Yuan temple in the Chinese district. In the second center of the capital - on Liberty Square (Medan-Merdeka) - stands the National 132-meter monument. In addition, the city has many museums, a zoo, the Water Palace, the Mini-Indonesia Park, a recreation park and a cultural and entertainment complex.

In the South of the island, the largest in the southern hemisphere monument of medieval Indonesian culture - Stupa Borobudur, which is called the monastery on the mountain or the Temple of a thousand Buddhas.

It should be noted that in the west of the island of Java you can visit another amusing place called Bandung. It is a mountain resort with Dago waterfall, Tangkuban-Praia volcano, volcanic springs in Chiater, hot springs of Maribaya, Lake Situpatengang, mountain safari park, palace complex, national park, a large number of museums, Karang-Bolong beaches, Asnier and tea plantations.

Between the cities of Solo and Yogyakarta there is another masterpiece of architecture - the Hindu ancient temple complex Prambanan.

The city of Surabaya is known for the reserves of Meru-Metiri, Baluran and the high active volcano Bromo.

Section 3. Useful information for tourists

The island of Java on the world map is easy to find, and it's very easy to plan your itinerary. The transport system here is perfectly arranged. Today, on the island, namely in the cities of Surabaya, Semarang, Jakarta, Jogjakarta, Bandung, Solo, airports accept international charter flights from around the world.

From Russia it is most convenient to get by regular flight through Dubai. Also there is an opportunity to get to the island and over the water. For example, in Jakarta, Surabaya, Banten and East Java you can sail by ferry.

The cheapest and most convenient means of transportation here are buses, but for travel, a leased car or a trip by rail is perfect.

The cuisine on the island is adapted to European tastes and consists mainly of beef, chicken, vegetables, rice, legumes and fresh fruits. The most traditional, tasty and cheap food can be found in small cafes. Very popular drinks in Java - ginger tea, sugarcane juice , beer "tuak" from palm flowers and palm vodka "arak".
