At the site of the disintegrated Yugoslavia there are now six independent states. Each of them has its own "main" city. Belgrade is the capital of Yugoslavia until the collapse of this state. One of the mandatory items of excursions is the Royal Palace, built in 1884. There are many museums in the capital. Very popular with the guests of Belgrade is the one dedicated to the great scientist and inventor Nicola Tesla. It was founded in 1952 in an old mansion. No less popular are the Museum of History, as well as the Mausoleum of Tito.

The area of Skadarliya is especially attractive for tourists. This picturesque low-rise district, located in the old town, is a Serbian likeness of Montmartre or Arbat. Today this quarter was chosen by art galleries, antique shops, free artists. Here are the authentic restaurants of Belgrade, and very close to it - popular nightclubs.

The capital of the former Yugoslavia is famous not only for ancient architectural monuments, but also for remarkable new buildings, some of them are the top of engineering thought. All of them are in the area of the city called "New Belgrade". To date, the capital is a major economic, industrial and cultural center of Serbia. Its population is 1.6 million people. There are several higher educational institutions of national importance for the country.
