The basis of ancient technology: how to make modules for origami.

Origami is a hobby that is gaining increasing popularity both in Russia and in Europe. The reason for this - the unprecedented beauty of the resulting crafts, bright, colorful and unusual. Origami can be described both as a hobby and as a treatment and rehabilitation program for those who need to restore the motor skills of their hands, and as a pleasant pastime for all members of the family on long winter evenings.

Origami originated in China, although art flourished in Japan. Today it is considered good to be able to put figurines from a sheet of paper, and in Japan it is perfectly possible to do even preschoolers. Of course, traveling around the world, origami changed: today you can find on the Internet figures that are completely uncharacteristic of the culture of the East.

In total there are 4 origami techniques: simple - this is what we were able to do in childhood: the pylons made of paper, ships , etc .; Modular - more on this later; Kusudama - creation of hand-made articles in the form of a ball from various modules; Wet origami - a recent discovery that allows you to give the crafts expressiveness and smooth lines.

The second kind of origami is the most common and most versatile. Its basis is the origami module: a triangle that can be connected by means of grooves with other same triangles. The method of connection will be immediately understandable, as soon as the first module is in the hands of the master. But how to make modules for origami is the question! Nothing complicated when the technique is already worked out, but its first module is quite difficult to create. The search engine produces a lot of links on the request "how to make modules for origami", but the scheme is the same everywhere - and "teapot" can be understood only after seeing the video tutorial "How to make triangular origami modules." There are several points that I will try to clarify now.

First. The blank for the modules must be rectangular and always of the same proportion. The best way to create the correct workpiece is the standard A4 sheet (of course, if you did not purchase a special kit for creating origami - but then the schematics are also attached to it, so questions usually do not arise). So, the sheet can be cut with a sharp knife into 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 pieces. Each size serves its purpose - for example, when creating origami "Holiday Cake" you need four sizes. The standard module is one sixteenth sheet. This is the size that allows you to spend your material sparingly, and products to receive normal dimensions.

Let's move on to the technique of making modules for origami. The workpiece is folded along, then immediately across and unfold. The resulting long rectangle indicates the middle of the fold line. Now we bend to it from both sides of the edge so that we get a triangle. Since the rectangle was long, the bottom of the triangle will be left with two strips on each side. They are bent to the triangle, the edges are also bent inside by small triangles. It turned out to be an unfolded triangle of a neat appearance. It remains only to fold it in half with an even side outward. Now you can see the pockets into which other modules can be inserted.

There remains only one detail, essential for answering the question, how to make modules for origami. This is a selection of paper. The density of the same A4 standard sheet is the best. To produce bright toys you can use any colored paper, but it is better to give preference to dense varieties. There are suggestions to make toys from stickers. You can simply paint a white sheet in the color you need. Experienced craftsmen say that the flowers are especially delicate if made from paper napkins. There are crafts made from newspapers and even ... from dollars! In general, there would be paper - but we do not hold fancy! Pleasant moments of creativity!
