The "5000 rubles" denomination: the history of appearance and protection. How to recognize a fake bill "5000 rubles"

The "5000 rubles" banknote is perhaps one of the largest banknotes of modern Russia. It is not so rare, but the trouble is that not every Russian can boast of minimal signs of authenticity of banknotes of this dignity. Such negligence sometimes leads to very sad consequences.

History of appearance

The "5000 rubles" denomination was first developed in the history of Russia by the Provisional Government in 1917 and issued in circulation in 1918 by the government of the RSFSR. She looked like the notorious "kerenki" and had on the back of the double-headed eagle. At the time of the beginning of its existence this banknote was the most "expensive" money symbol of the country and was issued in process of general depreciation of money. But in 1996 (as in 1920), this "money" was already one of the smallest, which was the result of rapidly growing inflation.

As a banknote a coin has become

The bill "5000 rubles", the photo of which is presented below, was put into circulation on 31.10.95 and served for a short time. The green note had on the obverse an image of the monument "Millennium of Russia", located on the background of one of the oldest temples of Russia - St. Sophia Cathedral. A fragment of the Fortress wall of the Kremlin of Novgorod is printed on the back. The size of the "5000 rubles" note of the 95th year of release is 137 x 61 millimeters, the serial number is shown on the right and left on white fields, watermarks are the image of the cathedral and the number 5000. The denomination on the back of this note is registered three times, and on both sides there is an inscription In words - "Five thousand rubles."

Unfortunately, the life of this banknote was short-lived, only 3 years - as a result of the denomination, which took place in 1998, its zeros were "stolen", and it turned into a five-ruble note with the same design. But this banknote did not last long - a little later, in 2001, it was replaced by a coin of the same denomination.

At first it was so

In the present-day Russia of the 21st century, the first bill "5000 rubles" was issued at the end of July 2006 and became the largest of the "urban" series (on the back of the banknotes the views and memorial sites of several cities of Russia were painted). Initially, its circulation was planned as insignificant, it was assumed that it will have the greatest circulation in regions with an increased level of wages for the population. However, it spread quickly enough throughout Russia, which entailed the need for additional types of protection. So in 5 years the bank ticket was reissued again.

Images - where they come from

Few people know that the monument depicted on the "five thousandth" has a difficult fate. In the competition for the development of the sketch, three well-known sculptors - M.M. Antokolsky, M.O. Mikeshin and AM Opekushin, who defeated the other contenders. At the end of 1890, a ready-made statue was delivered from St. Petersburg to Khabarovsk, after only 35 years the monument was demolished and sent to the museum, where it lay for many years, and in wartime was sent for remelting. Only in the late 80-ies the monument was restored with the help of not indifferent people, and in 1992 its solemn opening took place.

The "5000 rubles" denomination has a very beautiful reverse side - there is a bridge across the Amur River - a monumental two-tier structure with separate road and railroad tracks. The beginning of the construction of this masterpiece took place on July 30, 1913, and it was planned to finish it only 26 months later, which is simply unbelievable for such a hulk. In Warsaw, special metal farms were built, which were then transported via Odessa to Vladivostok (by sea), and there they were reloaded to special platforms and transported by rail to Khabarovsk. The bridge was almost assembled, 18 huge farms took their places, but the grandiose plan was broken by the First World War. The German cruiser Emden in the autumn of 1914 sank a steamer in the Indian Ocean with the last two bridge farms. So the last two designs had to be re-ordered in Canada and sent to Russia. Already on October 5, 1916 this magnificent structure was ready - the bridge was open for traffic. It is interesting that at the time of opening the bridge across the Amur was the largest railway structure in the Old World, and more than 13.5 million rubles was spent on its construction.

Size and description

Let's go back to the banknote itself - the sample of the "5000 rubles" note has a rather presentable appearance and is executed in red-brown tones, colored fibers - gray, blue, red and light green - are interspersed with the paper. Thematically, the banknote is dedicated to Khabarovsk - on the front side you can see the embankment, and in the foreground there is a monument to Muravyov-Amur (governor-general), to the right is the coat of arms of the city. On the back there is a panorama of the automobile-railway bridge across the Amur.

The size of the bill "5000 rubles" corresponds to the usual "thousand" - 157 x 69 mm, the banknote is equipped with several types of security signs, which should be discussed in more detail.

How to identify authenticity

Of course, it would be nice to always have devices that help confirm the presence of signs of the authenticity of banknotes, but in practice this is not possible. In addition, the proper protection of banknotes should provide an opportunity to distinguish falsification of all categories of the population of the country, including visually impaired citizens. So "5000 rubles" is a bill whose signs of originality can be determined not only visually, but also to the touch:

  • The coat of arms of the city is applied with the help of OVI paint with variable optical effect. If the angle of view is changed, the color becomes green or crimson;
  • There is a field with hidden bands MVC - if viewed perpendicular from a distance of 30-40 cm, this part of the banknote is perceived as one-color, and when tilted, strips are visible;
  • The height of the digits of the serial number on the right is gradually increasing;
  • There are watermarks visible to the gleam: on the right - the head of the monument, and to the left - the number 5 000;
  • The emblem of the Bank of Russia, printed on the banknote, has a polarizing effect;
  • There is a digital denomination made by perforation;
  • Some element, located to the right of the inscription "Ticket of the Bank of Russia", is made by an impression on an unpainted field (by colorless embossing) ;
  • Microtext is applied - if you look very closely you can see continuously repeating signs "5000" and "CBRF 5000";
  • Metallized filament of the diving type, having a width of 3 mm, five times comes to the surface from the back of the bill;

In addition, there are a few other signs that are difficult to consider with the naked eye.

"5000 rubles". 1997: the bill was modified

As you know, how much money there is, so many are willing to forge them. Here and with the new "five thousand" there was the same thing - in just 9 months of 2011, a huge amount of fakes for a total of more than 100 million rubles was withdrawn from circulation. A considerable part of them was occupied also by five thousand banknotes. Therefore, it was decided to improve the protection of banknotes of such high denomination according to the pattern adopted in 2010.

Despite the fact that the prime cost of the new "five thousand" was 24% higher than the previous ones, this step was justified - the number of fakes has decreased several times.

What is the difference

The new bill "5000 rubles" was not too different in appearance, it even left the year of development of the previous model. The most noticeable difference was the inscription "Modification of 2010", which was painted in the lower part of the left field from the front side. The differences are the following:

  • Only two types of fibers remained in the thickness of the paper: gray and bicolour;
  • In the paper itself there is a protective thread that comes to the surface from the front side of the bill through the "stained glass window";
  • On the right field is a combined watermark;
  • On the lower field, which, as in the previous case, has moiré stripes using MVC + technology, there are elements with visible parts in the form of colored strips;
  • On the edges of the coupon fields, there are thin protruding strokes on the front side;
  • The digits of the left serial number gradually increase in height to the center of the banknote;
  • The coat of arms of the city is saturated green and applied with the OVMI optical paint - a bright horizontal strip moves from the center up and down depending on the angle of view;
  • On the reverse side a wide multicolored strip is made, made in the form of an ornament;
  • Some parts of the image have magnetic properties;
  • Changes in the design of the banknote, visible under infrared and ultraviolet light.

In general, the sample of the "5000 rubles" note of the modification of 2010 has eighteen degrees of protection and is considered one of the most difficult forged banknotes in the world.

Signs of authenticity

Of course, with the level of today's technology, visual inspection will help you to save yourself from the most crude, "clumsy" counterfeits. But in order not to get into an unpleasant situation, you need to know some of them.

In addition to the already listed features, five thousandth notes have:

  • The embossed inscription - "The ticket of the Bank of Russia", next to which is an element printed with the help of embossing (bespokrasochnogo);
  • Nominal 5 000, made by perforation (small holes);
  • Microtext - continuously repeated writing of the number 5 000 and 5000 CBRF;
  • Additional thread (protective);
  • Microsurface;
  • Graphic drawing on the far bank of the Amur (on the back) - if you look at this part of the banknote with a magnifying glass, you can see the stylized silhouettes of trees, tigers, bears and fish, as well as the letters "CBRF";
  • Application of the Kipp effect - when examining a note at a certain angle, you can see lighter letters "RR" on the tape.

Of course, remembering all the signs of authenticity is not easy, but, according to experts, in order to protect yourself against forgery by 70%, it is enough to find 3-5 coincidences.

What to do if you find a fake

According to the data released by law enforcement agencies, false banknotes do not become less than a year from now, and fake "5000 rubles" bills are very popular among scammers and take second place after "thousands". What should you do if you suddenly find yourself wearing fake bank cards:

  • If you are unable to independently determine the authenticity of the bill, you can refer it to the nearest branch of any bank for verification, but be prepared for the fact that employees of the financial institution can call the police to conduct the proceedings;
  • When you are certain that the banknote is fake, you can take it to the nearest police station;
  • If you find a fake before you pay for the purchases in the store, it's best to destroy it (burn, tear to small pieces);

Since fake "5000 rubles" bills have recently become frequent, and it is very pitiful to lose such a sum, many people may have a desire to get rid of it by buying goods, "to shove one's neighbor". Doing this is highly discouraged. Remember, if you knew that the banknote was fake, and tried to pay it, you become an accomplice in the crime and can be punished in accordance with the law.

Interesting Facts

Another cognitive question, which until now has not been touched: "How much does the bill" 5000 rubles "weigh?" There are two opinions on this matter: if we take into account that 1 m 2 of paper used for printing money weighs about 96 grams, then a 157 x 69 mm bank ticket will weigh approximately 1.08 grams. According to another version, it is considered that since officially registered data on the weight of Russian banknotes does not exist in nature, it is possible to use some average table, from which it follows that 5,000 rubles. Weighs 1.02 grams. Of course, this applies only to new, freshly printed banknotes. Thus, by making simple calculations, you can find out that, for example, a million rubles in five-thousand bills will weigh from 204 to 216 grams. Not bad, right?
