Brazilian reales: history and unusual design

The Federative Republic of Brazil is famous all over the world for its bright carnivals, hot climates and, of course, coffee plantations. Rio de Janeiro, for example, is known for its symbol - a statue of Christ the Redeemer. In general, Brazil is rich in attractions.

The country's cultural wealth can also be studied with the help of its currency: Brazilian reales are the national currency of the Republic, which can tell a lot about the history and unification of this state.

History of Brazilian Reales

The path to the introduction of a single national currency in Brazil symbolizes the process of universal unification and the emergence of an independent state. In the 17th century, the Spanish real was used on the territory of Brazil. In 1652, it was replaced by a Brazilian flight, it lasted almost 3 centuries, until 1942.

Heavy for the world economy, and Brazil in particular, the crisis of 1942 led to a transitory devaluation of the voyage. Therefore, the government decided to introduce a new currency - cruzeiro. Unfortunately, she too could not hold positions for a long time and depreciated finally in 1986.

To replace the lost value of the currency came a new one - kruzado. But economic practice showed instability, due to financial upheavals, the republic's leadership was forced to again make changes. So in 1993 appeared cruzeiro real, but, alas, the economic conjuncture was even more tense, leading to a rapid total denomination of this currency. On July 1, 1994, Brazilian Reais entered the circulation.

To date, the currency has a stable position and tends to a long stay in circulation. Since 1994, there have been several re-issues of money, which entailed qualitative changes in the attributes of authenticity identification.

The nominal and appearance of Brazilian currency

It should be noted that the Brazilian reales are divided into centavos in a ratio of 1 to 100.

In circulation there are paper denominations of the following denomination: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 reals. The banknotes of the republic have the same image on the front: a statue bust with a laurel crown, which is an allegorical symbol of the whole of Brazil. On the other hand, the choice of an image for the reverse side is unusual: each denomination depicts an animal living in Brazil and its coastal waters: a hummingbird, a sea turtle, a large white heron lake, a macaw parrot, a lion tamarin monkey, a jaguar and a grouper fish.

Brazilian reais, presented in the form of coins, have the following denomination: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 centavo, 1 real. All of them are bimetallic, with the use of galvanized coating, and a coin of denomination of 1 real also has a brass bezel.
