Technical animal fat: GOST, application, production

In the process of production of meat-bone flour, the fraction - technical animal fat is allocated. Also it is obtained from carcasses and their parts that have not passed through the control. The fat obtained is of three categories, divided by characteristics.

Fat of animals since ancient times is used not only for food, but also for the manufacture of personal care products. There was a time when it was used for lighting houses, treating frostbite. Until now, animal fat is used in folk medicine.

Grade of fat

The technical fat of animals is obtained from carcasses, entrails, which for some reason have not been screened by a sanitary inspection. For the production, separate parts of the carcass intended for the production of the meat are also used.

After multi-level processing of raw materials, several types of fat are obtained. Each of them undergoes a strict test for compliance with GOSTs. Certified product is given a grade.

  1. First-rate fat. Has a milky white or slightly yellowish tinge. In such a product, the moisture content is not more than 0.3%.
  2. Second-rate technical animal fat. Has a yellowish-brown or yellow tinge. The amount of moisture in it is about 0.5%.
  3. The third grade. The product has a dark brown hue. The moisture content is up to 1.5%. This type, like the other two, is produced in accordance with GOST.

Characteristics of the varieties of fat

The technical animal fat is normalized by GOST 1045-73. On it, different types of products have different characteristics.

Technical animal fat in accordance with GOSTs must be packed, stored and transported. There are also standards for checking product characteristics.

Storage, packing, transportation

Technical grease is packed in different containers. It can be:

  • Wooden barrels (GOST 8777-80);
  • Metal barrels (GOST 6247-79);
  • Tank-cars, railway tanks (GOST 9218-86).

When packaging the product in wooden barrels they are lined with polyethylene inside or covered with a layer of liquid glass. Re-use of packaging is allowed, but only after thorough cleaning and disinfection. Before filling, the product is cooled to a greasy consistency. To prevent the polyethylene from passing through the joints of fat, the packaging is firmly closed. To do this, use special clamps.

Shipping is regulated by GOST 14192-77. At the same time, the following information must be affixed on each container:

  • Date of product development;
  • Variety;
  • Standard made.

Technical animal fat of the third grade can be transported by any means of transport. When transporting the product in an open car, it is covered with a tarpaulin.

Application

With the development of mechanical engineering, the production of technical animal fat allowed the development of new fields of application. With it, you can reduce friction in various devices, including in cars. On this basis, fats began to take as a basis for the production of various lubricants, such as solidol.

Glycerin is obtained from fat. It is used in the military industry, in the production of tobacco products, in the manufacture of varnishes and paints, in medicine.

Technical grease is widely used in the manufacture of personal care products. The product is used as a base in soap making.

Modern technologies have made it possible to obtain biodiesel fuel from fat. Adding biodiesel does not require any engine modifications. Currently, there are several thousand gas stations in the world that sell this type of fuel.

Receiving

Technical grease is obtained by processing unsuitable for food raw fat, carcasses of animals that have not passed the veterinary control, not suitable for feeding parts of animals.

The following raw materials are used as raw materials for fat production:

  1. Parts of the carcass, organs that were discarded by the veterinary control.
  2. Confiscate.
  3. Parts of the body that have low nutritional status. It can be auricles, intestines, eyeballs and other parts.
  4. Wastes from the food industry. For the production of industrial fat can use fat trim, fat from grease traps, etc.
  5. Embryos, genitals.
  6. Dead bodies of dead animals. Such carcasses are sent for processing only after the permission of the veterinary control. If the animal has fallen from a dangerous infection, the carcass is disposed of in accordance with sanitary and epidemiological regulations.

Depending on the raw materials, all the technical fats are divided not only in grades, but also in types of pork, beef, mutton, bone, and mixed.

The technology of product production includes several stages of processing raw materials. First it is ground, then sterilized. Drying is then carried out. Then the dried raw materials are fed to the press, where the fats are squeezed out. The product is subjected to several types of purification. It is sent to the vibrating screen, where there is cleaning from large fractions, then to the decanter and then to the separator.

After pressing and cleaning, special conditions are created to ensure that the technical animal fat is protected. After that, the finished product is decomposed into tare.

Storage

Storage of finished products does not require the creation of specific conditions. The technical fat of animals should not be exposed to very low and very high temperatures. Store the goods for a long time, provided that it will be stored in a tank or in another large capacity.

Technical grease is widely used in a wide range of activities. Every year, new ways of using the product appear. Of the fat do not only personal care products, cosmetics, but also fuel for cars and much more.
