Swollen lymph node in groin in adults and children

In accordance with the physiological and anatomical features of the human body, the main components of its peripheral immune system are (except the spleen) lymph nodes. If any inflammatory process occurs, it is these formations that are the first to indicate this.

The increase in lymph nodes in the groin in women is caused most often by reactive changes provoked by various infectious diseases. If even a slight change in the size of the formation is detected, it is necessary to consult a specialist without delay.

If the lymph node in the groin is inflamed, then this may indicate the development of a venereal disease, as well as an inflammation of the purulent nature in the subcutaneous fat (furunculosis). In addition, it should be noted that even a minor scratch can affect the condition of the formations.

If the lymph node in the groin in women varies in size, then this may indicate the presence of serious hematologic or oncological pathologies. In addition, this phenomenon can accompany SARS, influenza, and also be a consequence of simple hypothermia. In this case, the lymph node in the groin can cause discomfort: when walking it often feels pain, itching, burning. Often there is a small amount of swelling of the rounded shape. When pressed, they can be shifted. Oncological formations are not different in mobility. The site where inflammation develops, begins to blush. Together with this, the temperature increases.

The lymph node in the groin on the right can be troubling when developing infectious diseases in the pelvic region. These include, in particular, the adnekist, proctitis, endometritis, parametritis. In the absence of pain, a swollen lymph node in the groin on the right may indicate an early stage of syphilis.

The change in the size of these formations in this area, as well as under the arms and around the neck, can be a sign of HIV infection. In these places the lymph nodes become gradually hard, swollen. As a rule, they do not bring much discomfort or soreness.

A lymph node in the groin of a child can swell if there is a damage to the integrity of the skin on the lower limbs (scratches, abrasions, wounds). Often, swelling does not appear immediately, but after two to three weeks. In this case, the infection penetrates into the lymph node. In it, she has not been active for some time. After the lymph node starts to swell.

Typically, the body itself is able to eliminate the infection. In such cases the inflammation resolves itself. However, in some situations suppuration begins to develop. In these cases without the help of a specialist can not cope.

To avoid the development of inflammation in children due to infection, care should be taken to ensure the condition of the skin. If there is a violation (even insignificant) of its integrity, antiseptic treatment must be performed in a timely manner. Properly treated scratch or abrasion will not cause complications afterwards.

For other reasons for the development of swelling in the lymph nodes in the groin in children include:

- formation of furuncles in the buttocks region;

- film dermatitis of severe course, accompanied by numerous skin manifestations.

In medical practice, there are also cases of changes in the size of the lymph nodes in the groin in connection with the vaccination of BCG when injected into the thigh.

If signs of enlarged lymph nodes are found in adults and children, you should contact the doctor without delay. It should be noted that timely application of measures allows you to get rid of swelling in a fairly short period of time.
