Sterilization of men - cruel revenge or a great alternative

Methods of birth control in the family are often used only for women. These women drink birth control pills, put spirals and bandage the fallopian tubes. Such injustice between the sexes was balanced almost half a century ago.

So, for men, too, there is the opportunity to guard against unwanted pregnancy partner, which was prompted by Chinese doctors. This is sterilization. The first samples were performed by installing clips on the vas deferens. For such an innovation in the year one thousand nine hundred and eighty-five seized by European doctors and developed an operation called vasectomy. From this time, sterilization of men has become increasingly popular, especially in European countries.

As for the Slavic world, here the opinions differ diametrically opposite. For some, this is a method to protect your partner from abortion and the consequences of hormonal contraception, and for others - the intervention in the holy of holies - the male intimate zone. Men, of course, think least of all about sterilization, since the very operation itself, the disclosure that such an operation was, significantly reduces a man's self-esteem.

Male sterilization is reduced to the fact that the permeability of the vas deferens is broken, which means that the seminal fluid is present, and there are no spermatozoa in it. In this case, the hormonal background of a man is not violated - testosterone is both produced and produced after surgery. Sterilization of men with local anesthesia is carried out, the duration is only half an hour. The patient is prepared for the operation simply - make a blood test for clotting, shave off the hair in an intimate area and wash the sexual organs with a disinfectant solution. After surgery, there are no significant scars, because the seams are not superimposed. Sterilization of men usually does not give any postoperative complications. Only a few days after the procedure, the skin in the area of intervention can be as if worn, swollen and slightly painful. In this case, it is recommended to apply ice to remove the edema. The patient is released on the same day and prescribed a sparing regimen for a week and protected sex for three months (until all the spermatozoa that can fertilize the egg go away). For reinsurance, it is recommended to make a sperm sample for the presence in it of viable spermatozoa. If there are none - you can safely not be protected and have sex without contraception.

Of course, one should not overlook the complication such as infection, inflammation of the appendages and bruises, however such "troubles" are the exception rather than the rule.

If, for any reason, the couple wants children again, then the question becomes rather scrupulous. In principle, sterilization of men is reversible, but everything depends on several factors:

  1. How surgical sterilization was done;
  2. Whether there were complications during the rehabilitation period;
  3. How much time passed after the operation;
  4. The age of a man, the presence of concomitant pathologies in the male sexual sphere.

But even if all these points allow a reverse operation to restore the patency of the ducts, this does not mean that it will end successfully. It requires expensive equipment, a high-quality surgeon and a firm decision to resume childbearing function.

In any case, the decision to sterilize the couple should be weighed. For young couples, this method is usually unacceptable, people who are more likely to resort to it at a later age who already have children. In rare cases, with the vasectomy already performed, the ends of the streams grow together after six months, and the man is again able to become a father. Such errors are very rare, but they should be taken into account.
