Stendap is fun. What is a standup?

Their fans have different humorous genres, but someone does not like clowns, do not inspire sitcoms. Perhaps the ideal way to laugh or even try yourself in the role of a comedian will be standup. It's a comedy genre that does not require scenery, a troupe, musicians. We need only a funny story and the audience.

Origin of the genre

Usually, the source of the standup is the phenomenon of paresis. This is a Greek word, which means that the speaker can cut the truth-womb without taking into account the rank and influence of the people in whom the arrows of his criticism are directed. At the same time, absolutely free speech could rightfully be considered a parreiasia, over which there is no compulsion, financial interest, any other methods of pressure. In other words, this is sometimes quite a sharp criticism, generated by the speaker's inability to remain silent.

Since the XIX century, in the UK music halls became popular, where in the intervals between performances of singers and dancers comedians with various monologues could perform. The law passed in the second half of the 20th century, which abolished censorship in theaters, allowed talking about many things, but the music halls quickly lost ground to radio and television. Stendap at the same time simply moved to other clubs, and this contributed to his popularity.

At the moment, the classic stand is a performance in which a comedian in a free style can make fun of any modern phenomena, without looking back at the "sacred cows". It was in this form that he began to develop in the United States after 1970 and gained frenzied popularity.

Famous stand-up comedians

If we consider the USA as the birthplace of the genre, then Mark Twain became the ancestor. Wonderful writer, satirist and humorist, he was engaged not only in literature. His lectures in San Francisco in 1866 were a great success and differed with such sparkling humor that each listener willingly paid a dollar for the right to be present.

Woody Allen, Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce - these people gave the stand a new life. George Karlin stands up to now, gathers full rooms and so pours swearings from the stage, which makes the inexperienced listener uncomfortable. But is it possible to consider that standup is an exclusively western genre?

Zadornov, Zhvanetsky, Altov, Evdokimov and a whole galaxy of talented satirists managed to perform during the years of total Soviet censorship. Of course, it's hard to joke about everything in this situation, and the texts had to "brush". Compared to the American one, it was an extremely mild option.

Sharp stand-up humor

What are comedians kidding about now? The most popular is the topic, which is usually called "the rage of the day." Judging by the number of topics, we have a lot of anger. Luis X Cay, an American comedian of Irish descent, gladly mocks children, sexual minorities, modern youth and old people, doctors, TV presenter, fashion - everything. He's got it softer than George Carlin, and it's no less ridiculous. Stendap is the most liberal genre, there are no strictly defined themes, which can or should not be joked.

For example, journalistic ethics imposes certain limits on the author. The requirements of tolerance simply do not allow to speak out negatively about women, children, Africans, homosexuals. In addition, the journalist is obliged to give as objective information as possible, excluding his personal opinion. Stendap-comic is completely free from any framework. Of course, if the performances cause furious indignation of the public, the viewer will vote in a purse, and his presentation simply will not go.

The line between improvisation and preparation

Performances in the genre standup suggest a certain amount of improvisation, communication with the audience, although it is difficult to build a performance only on this. Undoubtedly, monologues are written, blanks are used in blocks, which, as if on a skeleton, jokes are built up in random order. A good comedian focuses on the reaction of the hall, so even the workpiece does not look strained.

An excellent example of improvisation can be seen in the movie "Nutty Professor", and it was not by chance that Eddie Murphy, who himself appeared in the standup genre, looks so certain in the spontaneous competition scene with a brazen and harsh comedian building their numbers on a crude mockery of casual victims from spectators. Stendap about the shortcomings of different people is the most fertile topic, extensive and inexhaustible. But humor is simply sharp, and it can be bilious and even spiteful. Viewers prefer the first option.
