Spiral "Multiload". Reviews, description, contraindications

The IUD spiral "Multiload" is a non-hormonal contraceptive. Its effectiveness in protecting against unwanted pregnancy is 98%.

The spiral "Multiload" (reviews speak about its effectiveness) is made of high-density polyethylene, barium sulfate and ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. The length of the rod is thirty-five millimeters. Around it is a copper wire spiral.

The mechanism of the contraceptive effect appears to be related to the primary effect on spermatozoa, the inhibition of their ability to fertilize. The spiral "Multiload" (expert reviews indicate this) provokes a local reaction leading to an increase in lysosomal activity and to other aseptic inflammatory changes, which is why its spermicidal effect is manifested.

The tool is fixed by means of flexible side elements in the highest possible position. The spiral rests against the bottom of the uterus, not stretching its internal cavity.

When using a contraceptive, copper atoms are oxidized. Copper oxides subsequently dissolve in the intrauterine environment. The release of 30 μg of copper per day occurs.

The spiral "Multiload" (reviews and comments of specialists confirm this) should be installed only by a doctor. The optimal time for its introduction is considered to be the last day of menstruation or the first few days after its completion. Thus, the probability of using a spiral against the background of an existing but not diagnosed pregnancy is excluded.

After the termination of pregnancy or delivery, the drug should be placed either immediately or not earlier than six weeks. If a cesarean section has been performed, it is administered no earlier than in twelve weeks. The admissible duration of the contraceptive in the uterine cavity is not more than five years.

The spiral "Multiload" instruction does not allow for use with hypersensitivity to copper, uterine bleeding of an unexplained nature, malignant tumors of the uterus (neck or body). Contraindications include ectopic pregnancy in the anamnesis, as well as the presence of predisposing factors to it (pelvic peritonitis, endometritis, salpingitis). The drug is not used for acquired or congenital malformations of the uterus, with deformation of its neck or cavity, multiple uterine fibromyomatosis, profuse menstrual bleeding.

Contraindications for its use include dysplasia of the cervix, endometrial hyperplasia , microbial lesions of the reproductive system (except candidiasis), inflammatory pathologies in the pelvic organs. The "Multiload" spiral is not being installed (the doctors' opinions are unanimous here) for sexually transmitted diseases that occurred during the last year (with the exception of bacterial vaginitis, hepatitis B, herpes, cytomegalovirus infection, candidiasis, viral infections). Contraindicated agent for hepatolenticular degeneration, pregnancy (or suspected of it). Female spirals of the "Multiload" are set only after a thorough examination, evaluating its intended benefit and the possible risk associated with the use of the drug.

It should be noted that the reviews of the patients on the Multiload spiral are rather ambiguous. According to some of them, the drug is highly effective, well tolerated. In addition, many women find the spiral more convenient than tablets or suppositories, a contraceptive.

Some of the patients experienced only a side effect of the remedy: the menstrual cycle was broken, pain appeared during menstruation, premenstrual syndrome developed.

Experts recommend that you carefully study the annotation before installing the "Multiload" spiral and also consult with your doctor.
